Manda's S5

The matt black slats where there is no plate just looks odd, so have got some gloss black wrap and been trimming it down to fit later and hopefully help blend that in.

Also got a sticker plate, and trimmed it to the exact mm of the legal border limits :)
11mm border, 33mm between first identifier section and 3 random digits.
Feel nice to not feel conscious of being pulled over.. didn't miss that feeling it seems ha!

I run this plate for 6 months or so without any issues but the sticker is reflective and the font is Charles W. which is the standard for Uk plates and I ve orderd it on standard measurements. It was 11-12 quid but looks awesome and as I ve said no probs till moment we re speaking. Nice ride Amanda

That's the plan :D :D I have this vision in my head how the whole car will look when finished, need a few more parts to get there so ticking them off super super slowly.
Same way i set out on the a4, and when i was finished it was exactly the inital image i had in my head, I enjoy the pretty stuff at this stage.

Quite sure it'll look sweet when your done, as always, pics when changes are made are mandatory.

Cos I havent done a huge amount, gonna milk out piccies of the new splitter, so minor to most that I am pretty sure many wouldn't know whats changed, but i am in love with it(xmas present from the mr, such a sweetie)

fyi.. when fitting a splitter dont drill the holes in the splitter first with out checking on the car... as i discovered that after when having to make others when it is taped on cos they was in places that wouldn't have worked.
Also had to buy longer bolts than maxton provide for some of the centre, plastic is pretty thick due to the radiators undertray shaping!

Just and FYI, when trying to see how to get my fog grilles off, i found every google result said they are too hard to remove and don't bother...
and one youtube video of an s4 claiming 5 is the same, but if you do what he does you will snap the long clips as the hole he uses to pull it is not the same side as the s4!

but any way, it's actually dead easy and came off in 30 seconds, so if any one needs it, just pop the inside edge out with a trim tool and it slides out.

But love the splitter. Doesn't stick out too much, subtle.

haha I dont drive with fog lights on unless it is foggy, at which point white light only reflects off fog which is pretty useless to me, yellow cuts the fog nicely :) made that mistake on the a4 and regretted it as only see fog lights for the 10 seconds after the car is locked (see me home lights).

That's a good point actually. I haven't got any on mine haha. But the splitter is just lovely. The S4/5 got so much support for after market. RS non existent tbh. You can do so much on that B8.5 platform S4/5.

that's because the RS already has the best looking bumper and styling, when I am looking for bits for the s5, they seem to all be 'rs look':)
Do Xenon UK do bits for the RS yet? splitters look good on every car IMO, hopefully they do one for yours by now!

I was looking for carbon parts. More aggressive rear diffuser etc but we looked into it over on rs246 and the bumper and diffuser are a one piece. Hence why there's not much support. Could wrap obviously but meh. I'll save the cash.

Well, 'obviously', I seriously considered it and moved some funds around from the offshore portfolios but in the end, I thought I should pay my next years tax in full

heads up, a lot of my pictures are going to disappear as i remove any from my flickr that include my number plate.

Photobucket ?

nah I made them private (just the pictures with number plates showing) and expected them to automatically have a broken link on here after, but they haven't, must be the audisports server caching or something, who knows :)

Delivery!
Actually really impressed at the finish of the diffuser considering it is completely unpainted raw finish FRP, it will be getting a flat back and spray after a quick test fit.
Spoiler is real carbon and really nice finish, but have spotted a ever so slight mark in the clear which I will machine out prior to fitting :D

Interested to see how the diffuser looks fitted.

The spoiler doesnt fit :S
test fitted last night and it is shaped for a standard a5, not the s body shape.

Company has been top so far though, told them straight away, they have updated their ebay and website so it no longer advertises it specifically for the S, also putting me in touch with another customer with a coupe s5 facelift who has fitted theirs to see if they had it adjusted by a body shop or even had the same issue. (Only because I really want a ducktail and they have no others for the s5).
They have ofcourse offered a full refund as I supplied a video showing the gap each side, and offered to cover posting it back too, but want to check out my options first incase carbon fibre (epoxy) and be easily trimmed back on the inside edge to accomodate the centre buldge as I want it fitted so bad :)

Any one have any experience of making adjustments to epoxy carbon fibre parts i.e cutting?

so I decided to grow some proverbial balls and alter the carbon fibre spoiler with a dremmel. It is clear this is for the standard A5 not S5, but I was unable to find one like it for the S5.

After speaking to a local carbon fibre place and bringing it in, the fella said it really depends how much I want it to fit as needed allot removed and redoing, they would charge £100 which I thought was fair, but he really wanted me to do it instead lol

After a chat he did manage to convince me to do it myself and even spent 20 minutes teaching me how then sent me on my way with a fresh roll of masking tape and fresh brick of plastercene. (when I am done I will be bringing them a crate of corona or something to say thank you!)

I wont lie.. i spent 4 solid hours removing a mm at a time, re test fitting, dremmelling, re fitting etc.. and I am not yet finished.
I have had to entirely remove the inside supporting edge to accomodate the s5 boots buldge, which is also the supporting structure, but this week I will be creating pillars to fit inside to make it rigid again, and resealing the open edge of the carbon fibre with gel clear coat.. the one I do my manicures with as it is the same lets be honest :p
Current progress..

Before adjustments, this is as fitted as it would get, had big gaps and can't lay flat on top:
Finger for reference :)

PS after this I am never touching carbon fibre again, devils bumhole that stuff is nasty and not easy to get off your skin!! burning itching devil dust.
No one but me will understand the effort for something so minor lol oh well :)

Not so pretty new supports I have made inside eeeep I did say it was not pretty.
I still need to seal the inside cf edge with clear gel coat, then close it up so the inside is not exposed..
Upside though is I test fitted again with the new structure and no tape on my boot, and there appears to be enough play that I think it should fit flush with decent fitting tape!

Had the week off so been nice chance to catch up on car bits I had let pile up.

Finished the Spoiler, it is nice and solid, and a final test fit so it is ready to go on after the car is wrapped nearer August (errggg so long to wait!)
Used gel clear coat cured with a 60 second uv burst (yes it is what I do my manicures with )

Final test fit.
47606481321_c27e1b3515_c.jpg

Removed the rings as I had a very deep scratch where I accidently caught the dremmel on the car (Stupidly used the boot as a table at first).
Then machine polished for a good hour and half till that scratch and the other caused by the Carbon Fibres open edge during the multiple test fits, had all gone.

Got the old diffuser ripped off eventually, tried on my own with no luck, asked a body shop who refused, asked audi when the car had the fuel rails replaced by the recall, and they said 'they was too scared they may cause damage'.. boyfriend and his friend tried...
Then finally refusing the be beat the boyfriend and I had a good go and it finally came off! wtf why so difficult!

The new diffuser was not a direct fit, only one side of the clips lined up, the other side I had to saw the clips in half, then some clips was too thick s had to dremmel them, and then some parts of the fibre glass edge was too thick to fit in the recess, lots of dremmeling adjustments later and a good pair of helping hands from the other half, we got it on, drilled some holes in the new diffuser and they are not bolted to the car.
Super happy but fed up of dremmiling parts now :)

Additionally got around to my mid year oil swap, covered 5k and been patiently waiting to use my new larger extractor! yes sad i know.. genuinly excited to use it.

47650264421_955c092ddd_c.jpg

Did not like the mmi even though it updates immediately with oil level if you leave the bonnet open, so ordered a dipstick that fits this engine from Audi.

As I suspected it was about 200ml over so I just drained the extra off and still says max, but I am now a bit more trusting of the correct amount of oil being in :)
£12 from Audi, part number 06E115611H.

46734573465_13c0284f7e_c.jpg

Had the fuel rail recall done by Audi, nothing exciting, took half a day and car was back.

And for no reason, a pic of the car cos for a day it was clean!

Haha funnily enough of you look at my old A4 thread I took the bumper off to remove it too, but I didn't want to be beat after seeing so many videos of how easily they popped it off.
