Haven't used mine in a long time as cars been off the rd but I'm sure it's 3rd

Have a go at the 0-60........I'm sure mine is broken it was that slooooooow! lol

I saw that 0-60 timer I will give that a go over the weekend.
I did think it was 3rd gear but just but just wanted to check. Thanks @ADs3. Also go a chance to fit my headlight rubbers I got of a breaker on fb.

Took the car to get the top strut bushes and bearings replaced with the purple polybushes. While it was there he noticed that I needed an inner and outter drive shaft boots for the passenger side and a outer for the drivers side.
So a drive to TPS had them.in stock so a few quid lighter I had them all bought. Hopefully get them fitted on Monday.

Please please please... do an honest log and walk through of changing these. I'm in 3 minds right now about this issue on my TT
1. Just buy new drive shafts
2. See if S3 drive shafts fit TT and fix my driveshafts in the shed and fit that / them
3. Take apart my current driveshafts.

Also I bought a tool to fit those type of clamps but never worked out how to use it properly so show that please :)

@Stuart B this is not a job that I could do. I have two disc's out on my lower back so lying on my drive way is not a option.
I will ask the mechanic that is doing it those questions you want to know and I'll see if he will show me him using the tool. Don't see why he wouldn't he is a dead on fella.
Sorry can't be more helpful on this for you.

@Stuart B. Only picked car up today. He said it was a pig of a job to do as quite a few of the bolts where seized on the ball joints on both sides. There was a fella on fb that said he ordered a new drive shaft for £70 so that might be a option for you. If he posts up where he got it from at that price I'll let you know.
Car feels so much better now the steering wheel just feels more responsive and smoother. I taking it is the purple polybushes and new bearings on the top struts that is making the difference and not the drive shaft boots being fixed.

Quick question for some one. Does the instrument cluster have a oil light like the eml or the abs light that should go out after a few seconds?
I've only just saw that mine doesn't have one and don't know if I had one before I got the colour mfa installed.

Good old breakers eh.......I found a a3 which I was robbing of it's maf 5 pin connector when I noticed a long head light rubber in the bottom of the bay, had a rummage about & found the other one too. It was like I'd struck gold all £2 worth, see these going for silly £ on fb & ebay

I'm hoping some one can help. I was checking my oil and noticed that I have a broken pipe. It's below the inlet manifold and it looks like it's part of the pcv system. It's not the best of picture I know but just hope some one can identify it for me.

@tcg Yes mate that is the pipe that is broke.
Is the one you linked in ur post the one that you got and fitted? The one @superkarl linked the seller says doesn't fit a s3.
Does look awkward to get at so hopefully with the dipstick it will make it a bit easier.

I took the trim in front of the inlet manifold off then the dipstick bracket and removed the dipstick.I cut the end of a disposable glove finger to put over the dipstick hole.Removed PCV pipe from connector.

It's really tricky to get the correct angle for the new one to pop back in,a lot of patience, some wiggling, and a little bit of oil around the new 'o' ring...oh, and try not to break the casting like some **** I know :crying: luckily mine was ok.

Checked my Ebay history and it's listed as...

VW GOLF MK4 AUDI A3 1.8T BREATHER HOSE PIPE 06A103213F + CLIP & SEAL A503
( 191186254270 )

I searched the item number and this one came up...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-GOLF-...451277&hash=item2c8396b9be:g:rrEAAOxy3cJTfH-V

So that must be the one I used mate.

Good luck...yet another job for a gynaecologist

Thanks @tcg I've just ordered it from the link. Hopefully be here by the weekend and the weather is favourable. I had a read threw some of your thread and saw where you broke the housing. Fingers crossed it doesn't happen on mine but I'm sure if this goes well some thing else will break lol.

Slowly, slowly, catchy monkey mate and you'll breeze through it

Mine was a real bastuard to remove, ended up in a few pieces by the time I finished with it. Hope it goes much easier for you.

Got it sorted there. Was a real ****** to get the old broke bit out of the housing. Plenty of swear words later and a cup of tea it finaly came out. Also no broken casting which was a big relief.
New one on and car sounds a lot better now it doesn't have a big leaking hose.

I find it incredible that we as a society feel the need to censor written words in case we offend some ‘snowflake’ as they’re referred to nowadays

And I guarantee at no point has a ‘pole’ (polish person) ever claimed offence, just like a ‘brit’ wouldn’t. It’s a social justice warrior sat at home on the internet thinking of ways they can be heard

Totally agree with both of uses. To much censorship nowadays I think but hey that's the mad world we live in these days afraid to speak how you feel so not to offend.

I thinking of starting to polybush my car by doing a few at a time.
I've got my top strut mounts polybushed and both ends of the dog bone mount.
What would be the best way to start changing them. Any specific order I should follow.
Thanks

Washed, clay bared, waxed and then ceramic coating it. Doing the clay bar was my 1st time using it but definitely worth doing the extra dirt I got of made the paint work so much smoother and after the wax and ceramic coat the shine on it is well worth the effort.

That’s one shiny car mate! Which ceramic coat did you use. It’s a minefield these days with polish, wax, ceramic coat products.... also is that a quad exit exhaust I’m seeing or is my eyes playing games on me?

Looks nice ming blue when its proper shiny. My car really could do with a thorough going over at some point, have algae stuff around the tail light rubbers it's that bad lol.

How's the car going? What's the latest with turbo choice, I know you had a bt to go on it but changed your mind?

I have sold that turbo kit on that I had. I couldn't get a garage over that wanted to take it on.
I have bought the badger5 k04-380 package just waiting on delivery of it.
I now feel that all the engine work I got done was a bit over kill for the hybrid but at least it should be well up to the job.
I've spoke to a mechanic and he said he will swap the manifold and turbo over for me. It runs gasketless so I'll need head of aswell to make sure it's a good fit.
Then I'll take it to a mapper here to swap the injectors over and put a map on it.

You’ll be very pleased with the AET-380 bud. Look forward to seeing your results!

Thanks mate. It's only been 2 weeks since I ordered it so hopefully another couple of weeks and it should be here.
Not going to be able to get my meth kit fitted at the same time as no one seems to have fitted one before and there not filling me with much confidence to let them try it on mine.
I am right in thinking that the manifold to head is gasketless isn't it?

Those manifolds take a lot of work, can’t rush art ;)

Fitting the meth kit is above me, but you could always ask on here for some direction.

I think the manifold to head runs a gasket, it’s the manifold to turbo that is gasketless :)

O right so I got it round the wrong way I'll get a gasket for the head to manifold. Yeah I know it's takes ages to get these manifolds to where they are any good to use. I just get impatient waiting lol.

Well you've a good foundation in place so if you ever decide you want more at a later date it's all there ready to be built upon.....having the low down punch of a small turbo is good around town & country lanes but rarely get to put my foot down properly without being up someone's a*rse within no time to only be held up again (not advocating racing on public roads of course lol).

Some great results from the aet kit with the right set up of course.
To be honest if I can install the meth kit you should be able to, I can PM you some help if needed.
Get a cooling mist solenoid as the aem built in check valve can fail & cause siphoning. Take the feed for it from the pump live so it opens when the pump is activated. It's the pink wire & the controller comes with a take off for the ground brown/white, take power from the relay under the dash for the pump & just run the leads & pipe under the carpet along the door kick space & under the rear seats is how I did it.
If you need some help just ask mate

Thanks for the advice @ADs3 but something like that id much rather a garage do it or someone that has fitted one before to do it.
I think I'm just going to stay with the hybrid turbo as there is other things on the car I want to get done. I think for what I need it for it will be fast enough.
