What Detailing / Car Care Products Have You Bought / Ordered Today?

So what's the Verdict on Done and Dusted Si guys hype or what? as this is normally the case when a new Quick detailer hits the market aka beadmaker etc etc

I just started using the Green Done and Dusted - it does give a good shine but my big problem is the dust which is attracted to the paint after a few days - washed the car last Sat + topped up with D + D then after a 500 mile road trip in dry weather it was dusty as hell - on Wednesday washed it again + a coat of D + D - car appears to be a magnet to dust and looks dirty after a few miles as today back to square one.

Think I may give up on the detailer Spray and stay with more coats of Poor Boy's Black Hole or Chemical guys Cherry Wet ( know they're different products for diff protection ) as they appear to attract the dust so much less or move house to a less dusty area

Not sure I want to try SI just yet - as said in another thread the level of shine doesn't get better the more products you use.

- Very economical, a little goes a long way.
- Ridiculously easy to buff, only very light pressure needed and zero streaking, even when applied in direct sunlight.
- VERY high deep gloss.
- Very slick finish.

Not so keen on:
- Black bottle means you can’t see how much you’ve got left inside.
- Spray nozzle squirts rather than spritzes. I found it easier to spray onto an applicator pad and then gently wipe onto the panels. Not sure if I just have a dodgy nozzle though.
- It honks a bit - doesn’t have the nice sherbet fizz smell of the original.

Can’t comment on the water behaviour yet...

Happy with it? Yes - it’s a good ‘un!

It may just be the time of year - trees are spaffing out pollen big time at the moment. Early spring is always a bit frustrating, you just get the detailing bug back after winter, and then the jeffin’ trees jizz all over your freshly cleaned motor. Cut ‘em all down I say.

Krystal Kleen Detail Brake Away is a good option, it's a concentrate so adjust the dilution depending on soiling.
If it is baked on then your only other option could be am acid based wheel cleaner like Devils Juice or you can get Wonder Wheels locally, they do an acidic wheel cleaner.

But I would try brake away first.

Can you use this blue hex-logic pad other than for a glaze?

I don't have any glaze products in my arsenal. Something I have never used.

If not will look at getting something like CG Black Hole glaze to try.

Anyone using glazes?

You could use the blue pads for Wax I reckon. I've used Poor Boys Black Hole glaze and it gives nice results but didn't last that long in my opinion. The shine is nice while it lasts though and a good QD a couple of days after really keeps things gleaming .

It was a steal for £6.71 incl delivery. (see why now!) So I will just use it to spread some wax.

Not seen much on here mentioning 'glazes' and how super glazes are. So will give it a miss.

Thing with glazes, especially Black Hole is that it masks or glazes over swirl marks and fine scratches . On properly corrected swirl free paint it will look very good , with excellent shine . Personally though I prefer a good finishing polish and wax.

Lol. My best tactic for avoiding the bird bombs? Park it next to the missus' Chili Red Mini Cooper. The flying rats love using that thing as target practice - swear the peanut brained little bell-ends do it on purpose - its literally a Chili Red rag to a bull. Drives her mad - and it would make me laugh if it wasn't me that had to deal with it . Reckon they don't even see Daytona from up high

A pair of new hogs hair brushes arrived today, from Alien Magic. Handmade in the UK and very nice quality I have to say. Will be useful for agitating detergent in shut lines, around badges, wheel bolts, window trims, engine bay detailing etc. Almost too nice to use! In the package I received a leaflet with a 10% discount code for their eBay store (EBAY10), in case anyone else is interested...

Good warning pal - I have a feeling my Daytona clear coat is a damn site harder than that on your Voodoo, but can understand your concern. Main reason I bought these was to very gently chase out some dried paste wax residue from certain areas where other methods have failed me (too tight to get a microfibre in). I'm not going to be hitting those areas hard though and was hoping my swirl phobia and some gentle 'technique' would be enough? Or any alternative methods you recommend? They'll make ruddy good shaving cream brushes if nothing else. Lol.

Got some fk1000p delivered, the tub is huge, looks small on the pictures. Was going to try tj's wax but I've had my mind set on this for a while so thats the next purchase to compare.

All I need is time now but sold out on ebay, car hasn't been touched since October!

The Alien Magic brushes did the trick - soft as a kitten's whiskers, and chased away crud from the tricky detailing areas, no fuss. Fine to use on Daytona clear coat (which is liquid granite). I'll be keeping one for gently hitting painted areas, and another for the rougher jobs (wheel bolt insets, engine bay etc.). My car looks approximately 0.5% cleaner at the end of today's session compared to last week (its all about the marginal gains, lol).

Won't be using on the missus' Mini Coop - the clear coat on that thing is soft as butter - that will be the car that gets me into machine polishing next year.

My order from Imran isn't turning up till next week I'm all our of shampoo and snow foam and don't really want to buy any in the interim .
Kind of a waste of money . However , really wanting to detail the A3 tomorrow so I'm thinking can I just use good old fairy liquid to wash the car . Remember cleaning the old man's cast years ago with it. The A3 could do with a good decon anyway so ....... Anyone got any opinions ? Should I not be so tight and go to Halfords or should I just make do and dilute some fairy and crack on ........... Pondering
