Finally….After a loooooong 9 months wait….The S3 H.E (Hairdressers Edition) is here!!!

Picked it up this morning.

First impressions. Love it. The thing still burbles in Dynamic, but defo no other noises, which I’m happy with. Navarra was the right choice! No spare wheel well in the boot, (for anyone interested)

Goes like a stabbed rat, and can’t help smiling every time I press the loud pedal.

Obligatory quick crap phone pic.

Car looks very nice. :sunglasses:
Cabriolet wouldn't be my choice, because as Jassy said my wig would blow off. :hushed:
As long as you're happy though mate, that's all that matters. :)

I collected my 35 Sport from Sheffield JCT600 on Friday. Dealt with by Nagi Alassadi who was very helpful. Can't moan about the price as came in at £23K with metallic paint, aluminium roof-bars, towbar, front parking sensors, mudflaps and heated seats.
I've put the spacesaver spare and jack in the boot, fitted a hatchbag boot liner and swapped over the carpet mats for rubber. RGM bumper protector will not though.
I was apprehensive about making the swap to petrol from diesel but managed nearly 59mpg on the M1-M62 journey back to Merseyside. Car is quite, pretty comfortable and light to drive. Boot also bigger than I thought it would be. I've got a long run for it next week to Devon so should get used to it soon. I think I'll be very happy with it

Cracking looking car, Navarra is my favourite by far and I love that you’ve stuck with the chrome and not went for black pack as I think it’s a classier look

Well, it's been a real crap first month with the S3.

The rear window has had a fault from day one which Audi seem unable to fix. It’s been with them a total of 4 days now (2 x 2days) with various parts/fixes being attempted.

It’s booked in for another 2 days and some more parts next week.

I’m totally fed up especially after waiting 9 months for it.

Properly ****** off that this could come out of the factory like this considering how many checks these things supposedly have.

The dealer has been really great and has offered me my full money back, and I must admit, I’m very tempted to sack it off…but I’m going to give them one more chance to get to the bottom of the issue.

I know to some this will seem petty, but It’s really taken the shine off what should have been a fantastic experience. And remember, the window operation on a cabriolet is integral to the functioning of the roof – so its not just like you can ignore the problem.

I'm 50:50 with it.

One minute I'm thinking "its a window, how hard can it be to fix" and the next I'm thinking, "Yep, take the cash and run"

I'm also annoyed about a brand new car being in bits 3 times in a month - and the associated rattles/damage etc that that inevitably brings

I had a similar fault on my last car and it was never solved.

Thing is, the car is stunning - by far the best car I've ever owned, and I took a LOT of time deciding to buy it. Walking away after all this time seems mad...but,like you say, I'm VERY conscious that this may haunt me forever and a day!

Surely if a fix ain't possible there's other Cabriolets in stock in the dealer network or even arriving soon

@jassyo06 It's a very specific spec, and I'm very particular - there's zero chance of a similar car being in the dealer network. I've been watching over the last 12 months!

@Daz4311 Not fixable - I dunno? As you say, at the moment its driving me nuts, but that's because the "fixes" haven't worked. Its going back to the dealers again on Wednesday. My thoughts at the moment are - let them replace the regulator (which I've thought was the issue since day one!) and if that cures it, happy days.....if it doesn't, hand the keys back, 'cos then we're really going down the rabbit hole!!!.... As I say, at least the dealers have been ace throughout. Giving them a last chance to fix it doesn't put me in a different position to where I am today. I can still walk away next week if I want.....

specific spec ie Alcantara? ? If it where me in your shoes? I would do without microfibre seat coverings just to get another and lose the stress that these things can bring and super sport seats are a must for a S3 Cab especially when tops down jyst my tuppence worth mate

@jassyo06 appreciate your comment, but its not just the microfibre, mate. (Although I really do HATE leather with a passion) b&o, folding mirrors and lumbar are an absolute “must have”. On a 46k car, these really are non negotiable items for me.

To be brutally honest, even if the perfect spec used car were to turn up, I don’t want it. And I know how childish that sounds.

Maybe I’m being totally unreasonable, but I wanted a perfect (for me) spec car and I wanted it to be box fresh.

I’ll be making the final decision at the end of next week.

Not where I wanted to be. Disappointed doesn’t even come close.

It’s one of those things.
Nothing is 100% although you would expect better from Audi.
I went through a similar thing and like you it was great to have a dealer that’s willing to work with you. In the end I did a new factory order and they took the new car back. The replacement was perfect even though it took 7-8 months to build. At least they gave me a car to use.
I gave them 3 chances to fix the fault and when I had to be recovered at the roadside a third time I said enough was enough. This was all within 1000 miles from new.
Annoying thing wasn’t the dealer it was Audi UK. Their warranty procedure is to replace the cheapest parts with the lowest labour element even though I told them what was wrong with the car and what needed replaced but they wouldn’t authorise it till they ruled out the cheap items. I’ve been mucking about car for years now and know a thing or 2.

£46k, that’s is bonkers money for an A3 with a turbo. Not knocking you as we’re all paying in that region for new ones.

Although I’d be sending it straight back and buying this

I just found a great car on Auto Trader:

Nice M3 cab but what a dreadful colour though mate lol
£46k minus a good discount me thinks oor @loftylad just can't see the Trees from the Woods at the moment, hopefully alls well that ends well, will be the outcome of this scenario ASAP for the upset hairdresser lol

Understand you dilemma. No car should be like this straight after the factory. If this is a recurring fault the Cabs, then I'd be tempted to take the dealer up on their offer. £46k is way to much for an S3 anyway IMHO.

It could be one of those faults that is never going to go away. And will no doubt happen at the time you least need it to. It does seams strange that the dealer has already offered you your money back. They don't usually offer this, as more likely to wait for the customer to demand it back.

As you say the shine has been taken off, and given the time you waited for it, it's unforgivable. If it is fixed, nagging doubt will always be there.

I'd take their offer, get the money back, get a cheap run-about, and wait the next A3. Or, for £46k you could get a well specced Boxter S or even maybe a GTS.

Sorry - regarding the 46k price tag - that is list price. I paid nowhere near that, but my point was it IS a 46k motor (on paper)

@jassy06 you're right about the woods and the trees, mate. I'm as mad as a wasp at the moment - haircuts in the North are defo suffering!

@wab172uk I think I've known what the fault is from day one, and that's the part they're going to change this week. We will see....

Apart from this, I REALLY like the car.

Disappointed and frustrated at the moment.

Whichever way this goes, it should be over by the end of this week.

Shame to hear about your issues Lofty, can see why you're annoyed. Waiting so long and to have the car in and out of Audi garage is not ideal. Personally, I'd chop the car back in and get a refund, understand it is your ideal spec car and obviously waited so long for the "dream" car. But I don't think I could keep a car that's had a fair few issues even if it is the ideal spec for myself.

To be fair, Adam, it's only got the one issue.....they just can't seem to solve it! lol

They've got it again for a couple of days, so we'll see what happens....

I was promised "the best car we've got - something a bit special..." as a courtesy car whilst it's in this time......got an A4 diesel ! haha. FML.
