Did C6/4F model ever came out with leds in external door handles?

Managed to finish one handle and connect it quickly to see how it looks.

Looks wicked!
Not so bright and gives nice touch.

Will get it hooked up to the side mirrors flood leds, in the front door cards.

Will continue ...

Great, I'd like to do this mod on my C6.

Aesthetically very pleasing.

Tbh, it is simple process but not easy.

Running the cables through the rubber grommet between the doors and a/b pillars.

Rear doors cables to run to front doors and all tapped into wing mirror puddle light led just after door module. Will check which wires as done the rear doors atm.

All wires run to door handles and fed through (need holes drilled from underneath the handle).

I've used waterproof 50/50 white 12volt leds but you can choose any others, if you like.

Loads of panels to take off but will do writeup for them.

While at the doors and have door cards off, I'm going to do sound deddening mats with thermal insulation. Layer of "foam" with thermal film that I will stick on the internal door parts and behind door cards.
Front doors will use the same thing to sound proof on the door sub speakers.
That should better the sound and allow better thermal insulation.
Might think of the roof also but thinking of the roof liner going down is scary.

Wow! that is a lot of work, fair play to you.

Not sure I'm equipped to do this myself, sad times.

I only had to get some wires. No particular tools are needed.
Standard toolbox content should do.

Don't give up yet.

I'll do the front doors soon do you'll see the process.

Managed to get the left side done.

Here's the result

And how it works

So. After running cables from the rear doors, through the rubber grommet into the B pillar and behind front seat belt with B pillar air vent, I've run the cables underneath the front door kick trim to the front door.

Front door grommet on A pillar was also big enough to take extra 2 wires
Had to take the door trim off, skin it and feed the wires in the existing wiring, to the door module.

Than another pair of wires to the front door handle back to the door module.

All tapped into Black/Blue negative and Red/White positive for feed of power lo side mirrors puddle lights.

Got the subwoofer and doors layed with sound proof layer also for better sound performance and thermal isolation.

Will continue work on the drivers side asap and present the whole package done

What LEDs are you using to fit in the hsndles

What a great mod. Nice work & nice write up.

It baffles me that they didn’t do this as standard.

Definitely going to put this on my mod list

Yes, it is a shame it was not even an option.

Could use red ones, as already have red ones by the internal handles.
Thought white would be better and was right

I'm guessing you got a whole reel and cut down to 3 leds and soldered wires to. Do you have pics of we're you placed whole and the strip

I had a whole reel of these led, yes. It has been used around.

Yes, section of three leds in waterproof strip, soldered wires to and stuck on in the handle.
C6 handles are cup shape so you can drill holes for wires where you want. Access to the handle is from inside the door. Just need to get to the inner door part, where window mechanism is and make sure, wires will not get in the window tracks.

I have run them through all rubber grommets so not only in not visible but also water/weather tight.

Didn't had time lately and health didn't allowed me either to continue on the offside but as soon as I will, will take some new pictures.

I have neglected the car's paintwork and not washed it since aitp last year so, first need to spend some time on that.

Progress. Another door completed.
Near side is finished with leds and sound proofing.

Today I have cracked on offside rear doors.

Sound proofing went in and wires pulled in.
All wrapped up in tessa tape and made ready for leds to be soldered in.

Wires pulled through the bottom door trim, internally and ready to get to front door at another session.

Tbc ...

Great tip: if someone attempting sound proofing? get a roller for it.
Git cuts and scratches allover my palms and fingers. Ouch

Completed the driver side wiring and all connections.
Sound proofing also applied.

This complete the modification.
Will try to take a picture of all four doors lit.

Clear picture of soldered wires to wing mirror puddle led at front door module (if someone would like to attempt this mod) and right hand side of the car lit, when locked.
Even in day light is visible.

Think my A6 may be the first one with that mod.
Has anyone seen C6 Avant with them led in external handles?

Think this is a brilliant mod really classy. Which module is that you have solder the cables to?

Hi Alex,
Apologies for late reply.

Glad you like the mod.
Personally think Audi didn't thought this trough, to add them leds in the handles, when releasing this model.
As an option, they would've made money and many customers happy, I'm sure.

It is the main comfort module in the front doors. Have it pictured.
From there, cables and connectors go to wing mirrors and I've tapped into the cables for flood light under the wing mirrors.

Whenever you unlock the car, wing mirror flood light and handles bow come on. If you open either of the doors, all lights go off.
Similar with locking. As soon as you pull the key out of the ignition, all those light come on. When you lock the car it will stay on for set time of coming/leaving home lights.

Thanx Sean,
Yes, I have put a lot of time into this car and that is what drives me further for more and more.

Time is a premium for me now. Bot much during the week and if I take some of it, usually at bight, next few days I'm out.
Broken back, sore legs and pain in both knees.
Patience? Ask my kids and wife about it. LoL
