O/T ish but I saw the new SQ5 on the road yesterday complete with fake exhaust outlets … horrible, what are they thinking!
TX.
Seen a few of them on the road. Personally I think they look quite good.

They look like what they are, plastic stuck on *****!I was talking about the exhausts. I like them. I thin kit give the back end a nice aggressive look.

It’s a diesel, not an RS. Perfectly fine for what it is and adds a bit of aggression round the rear.
Facelift SQ5 from 2017 till before the recent WLTP update were petrol. With obviously fake (and horrible) exhausts, on an S model.

1000% concur, its an SUV.My point is, is that it’s not a sports car, regardless of what engines in it.

Compared to an aircraft carrier, agreed. ;-)And fairly rapid at that
Sorry but I chuckled when the presenter Chris Harris on last night's Top gear called SUV's 'S**t boxes....

Wagons forever!!!
Well taking a car that already has a lower ride height than than ordinary saloons then lowering it even further isn't going to help. Car manufacturers have been looking at the quality of our road surfaces and designing in systems that can cope. https://www.ford.co.uk/shop/research/technology/safety-and-security/pothole-detection-system
The suspension systems of a typical suv are designed for ordinary roads, not offroad, and aren't any different what so ever from one fitted to an ordinary hatchback. You are kidding yourself if you think they are any different. Most SUV'S just pretend they are rugged by having different bits of trim stuck on them..
No problem with that at q5man, those are good reasons. However the majority of SUV'S on the road are no better than just being estate cars on stilts and people are kidding themselves if they think they are in anyway more rugged...
We have a couple of very large schools near us. Would not make an iota of difference to the army of SUV mothers, armed with their Woolworths licences,The suspension systems of a typical suv are designed for ordinary roads, not offroad, and aren't any different what so ever from one fitted to an ordinary hatchback. But you had more fun. Fact.Tough times as leccy cars imho have no soul given they have zero sound other than a whine. If you then introduce artificial sound (as I'm sure they will after a while) again not for me. Doesn't matter to me how fast they are indeed I was beaten to a pulp by a P100D last year on a 200m sprint!

Gut it out or go aftermarket. Ain't over til the fat lady sings haha. They don't but in reality, with today's turbo engines, catalytic converters and gpf's the exhaust sound is becoming very muted anyway. I would put performance over noise any day...
If there were pipes inside the fake inlets so, they weren't 'fake', id have to agree. The squared off ones suit the car. But there's nothing there but plastic haha.I was talking about the exhausts. I like them. I thin kit give the back end a nice aggressive look.
End of the day, super SUVs are pretty impressive. For the size of them. I love the SQ7.LOVE my S**t box.
Its a bizarre trend I will agree. S should have quads, RS two big ovals. Standard models im not to bothered about (dont get me wrong I still dont like it). It probably doesnt bother 95% of people but I wouldnt have an SQ5 because of it personally.O/T ish but I saw the new SQ5 on the road yesterday complete with fake exhaust outlets … horrible, what are they thinking!

5 odd secs 0-60 not exactly sluggish
....and, one of my real pet gripes, when one is behind on a wet road, they invariably throw out that bath water in a grimy spray akin to a 22 wheeler!!!....do they not go around corners like a bath full of water?....
Or at a x roads when you are turning right, they pull alongside so you can't see the traffic coming!Or waiting at a roundabout and one pulls up alongside and completely blocks your view.
...however, in Oz that may be partially offset with the hot bright early morning or late afternoon sun, it does offer one some protection, but I get your Great Wall of China theory!!!Or waiting at a roundabout and one pulls up alongside and completely blocks your view.
...and nobody is talking with a forked-tongue!!Oo-er what have I started
Trivia - On a SQ7, the button on the key for the boot operates it to both open & close the boot.
Probably will filter down from SUVland to the lower echelons at some point.
