Servicing my car this weekend with my friend who works for dingbro and gets a good discount. He said to just use Comma oil but I've used expensive oils the past few years.

I personally wouldn’t skimp on the thing that keeps the engine and moving parts running smoothly and well lubed. For what your going to save is it really worth the risk? You can pick up the Genuine oil which dealers use (Quantum) for not a lot ;)

If it meets VW507 then yes, it’s fine. Comma are an OE supplier for a lot of other brands.

Is Comma not tied in with Castrol now, I'm sure that I was on their site once and there was a link to Castrol products. I used Comma exclusively for my wife's old Fiesta 1.6Si with the Zetec engine, mainly because Motorcraft had not caught up with the needs of newer engines so at the beginning of her having that car, they did not offer an oil to cover that engine (Motorcraft being Ford's equivalent of VW Group's Quantum) - and Comma had!

Comma being OM supplier to some car brands, hum, not so sure about that - it has been hinted at by them for sales reasons.

I'd back the Quantum at a good price to your doorstep via ebay option.

Edit:- sorry maybe the "some car brands" was just me misinterpreting "some aftermarket only oil brands".

Ah, my mistake, Comma are owned by Esso/Mobil so it must have been a link to Esso and Mobil oils I had found on their site!
My preference of engine oil brands currently is Mobil - Mobil1 ESP 5W-30 for all my VW Group cars I change the oil in.

Edit:- wrong again, in 2012 Comma was sold to Moove a Brazilian company and the South American licensee of EXON products.
