I'm sure many of you heard about the new speed regulations coming in 2020. Every new car is going to have the system installed, so going over the speed limits will be pretty much impossible. I have no idea how car manufacturers are going to tackle this, but it looks like buying performance cars will be pointless?

It's because the proposal have only been approved for voting and not voted in (which means it may never be a reality) AND the system will most likely be like the auto start/stop button we know today, where you can just switch it off.
It's more likely to see a WWIII than Germany making cars that cannot be pushed to the max on autobahn if you ask me.

There’s 3 types of isa
- Advisory – a simple device that tells you the speed limit, and gives a warning when you go over the limit.
- Controlling – hard wired into the car so that it becomes impossible to break the speed limit.
- Discretionary – a half-way-house, where you can switch between 'controlling' and 'advisory', or even switch the system off altogether.
And here was me thinking you were talking about Individual Savings Accounts
In all honesty though I believe these systems will be overridable albeit for a short period of time, otherwise they could become dangerous.
Not being able to accelerate beyond the speed limit to avoid a potential accident could in theory lead to one.
Also someone will develop a mod to circumvent these nanny state systems.

The voting took place on February 21 and this has been approved. The Germans and Italians are mostly ****** about this and raising concerns. The other countries approve.

I read that these will be factory installed in a way which makes it supposedly impossible to modify. I wonder how car manufacturers are going to justify selling sports cars while being obligated to install these systems. This bull**it has been approved by the EU and nobody talks about it. What a world we live in!

Should the proposed new laws receive a similar reception when the full European Parliament votes on them between March 11 and 14, all new cars sold in European Union (EU) member states would need to be fitted with “intelligent speed limiters” by 2022 at the very latest.
Depends on the article I read, some say 2020, some say 2022, hard to say at this point. This is something that everyone driving a sports car should be aware of though.

Exactly my point (and not wether if it’s going to happen 2020 or 2022 IF it happens).

S4 and RS4 ecu can't be mapped, tuners been trying for years.
