So my brake pad indicator came on tonight stating it was at the limit, couple of questions.

Is there any way of finding out if its the front pads and/or back pads which are worn?

Also has anybody had there's changed and if so did you stick to OEM or go for another brand?

Thanks for confirming, just had a look through the manual and it doesn't state where the wear indicators are located. For the prices I'm seeing online it may be worth just changing both sides.

Just had mine changed on the S5
Same as you display said ots reaching the limit
Leeds Audi quoted me over £300 to change
Managed to find another company who did them for £200 (rears)
I went for OEM.

If it is an S5 then there are two brake wear sensors F&R on the N/S. I purchased my own online with two new sensors (Brembo) and had a garage fit front and rear. Cost me £250.00 all in. If you go to Audi, they will want £500.00 for same.

Do u need to replace sensors too?

Normally yes as they are designed to wear with the pad thus causing the pad warning light. There is no easy way of telling if it is front or rear, so best change the pads & sensors all round.

Ok thank you
My rear pads lasted 20k miles from new
Fronts are 50% worn

Thanks for the help, I’ll most likely change the front and rears.

I’m just about to hit 40k with the 2.0 TDI Quattro.

Its normal for the rears to go first on the S5 £200 for OEM rear pads supply and fitted sounds right

I must be lucky, my S5 just had its first service at 12K and the pads are only 30% warn throughout... Tyres also pretty good still :)
