Sportback 2015 rs3 brakes

Hi.
My dec 2015 rs3 was in at Audi in dec 2018 for mot, haldex oil and a recall. Done 23k miles approx.
Was told rear brakes 20% worn, fronts 40% worn.
End Jan, intermittent brake pads warning.

In at Audi today, saying fronts are 85% worn and £1095 to sort today!!! Done 25k miles now.

Does this seem right to anyone,

Cheers for the rapid reply Dan.
I've argued how the pads were another 45% in 2 months, no proper answer from Audi but they will now do the work for half price!

They've found the paperwork from dec, deffo says fronts 40%.

If they've got to 85% in 2 months someone must've been borrowing it at night and racing it lol.

I'll take 50% off, was no way paying full price.

Just out of warranty now albeit discs and pads wouldn't be covered anyway. I'd go aftermarket as you can get a far better product for not a lot more than Audi have quoted.

Did a 60 mile journey to the garage tx, so letting them do it so it's out of the way.
If they hadn't halved the price I'd be doing as you suggest.

They're 'avin a larf! I'll bet your brakes are fine for another 10k miles and wouldn't bother getting them done. Or as @terminator x says, get a nice set of aftermarket brakes from Tom Wrigley and the like.

Unfortunately my pockets aren’t as deep as yours, so I will be going for the poverty option

Reno Alcon discs with Ferrodo pads, apparently the difference is huge.

Yes, disks and pads £547.
Did it whilst I waited, time to watch all the 19 plates being picked up, minus of course any s or rs model!
Had an sq2 in as well, looked nice with the quad exhausts.

Make sure they fit non wavy discs from the fl car.

Don’t think there’s much difference.
Both facelift and wavy discs aren’t great and should be priced about £50 each.
Biggest problem I’ve found is the original pads.
Personally I like the look of the wavy discs and is a pfl feature that I’d like to keep.
Since I swapped my pads out my wavy discs have done well.
Now on 19k without problems

No problems here with my wavy discs. Swapped over to red stuffs to eliminate squeal. Perfect combo for me.
Just going to fit these on the rear next for the rear brake upgrade

What’s the brakes like with the red stuff pads mate ??...that’s discs are you putting on the rear ?

I find the reds great for my needs. I’ve done a lot of motor way driving over the past 18months and have had to anchor up a few times due to other drivers pulling into my lane at whilst I’m at speed and the slow the car down beautifully, no swaying just a solid straight line stop.
Fast sprint driving in the summer months around some great B roads near me and still hold up to some harsh braking due to me seeing if I can get them to fade.
However I know a few owners who trashed the reds on a track so not convinced I would use them when I eventually track mine. Will look elsewhere.
The rear discs are from the rs7 and I managed to get the last set from Crewe Audi Parts at a great price. Bought the brackets separately and saved quite a few quid.

When you fit the tears can you do a post of what they are like mate ? If anything has changed for better or worse

Will do, have reds currently on my rear setup so will see what difference this larger disc and Caliper off set creates under normal and harsh braking.

Thread revival, finally had the vagbremtechnic brackets delivered to me last week so popped over to a fellow 8p owners garage to fit the rear rs7 brake discs. Will say the top m14 spline bilt is an absolute mare to get at so you do need a vw Audi short stubby one in order to loosen it. But once done it’s straight forward swap. Awesome gti have an install guide on there site for this.

DW81 , do you mind sharing your 19"wheels specs pls? now that y0u've had significant miles on that set up, any wheel to caliper scraping issues? finally, would an 18"wheel fit over the 356mm rotor/caliper combo upgrade? TIA.

Wheels are 19inch 8.5j with a et45.
No scraps, no spacers and after last Saturdays track day no issues.
The rear brake calliper clearance with the rear calliper modification I would say is about 20/25mm from the inside edge of wheel. Fronts however clear the front callipers by about 2/3mm so very snug but again no issues on this.
I’m running the standard issue pzeros 235 35 19 tyts on the wheels and again no wear issues or troubles with these.
I’m not sure if 18’s would go over the front brake callipers if I’m being honest. The rears should present no problem mate.

I’m sure someone abit more knowledgeable will be able to answer your question on this. I find alloys and aftermarket variants can be abit of a mine field.

Forgot to mention the car is now sitting on eibach pro kit springs with no issues on this front with wheel clearance’s.
