I try not to drive into London on a regular basis, but this extension of the Low Emissions Zone is going to catch a lot of people out

Dieselgate has a lot to answer for!

Yet another Tax for the working man to pay. How people are expected to carry equipment and tools on already crowded and expensive public transport is beyond belief. Most of the companies I work with are just going to pass this on through the prices to the end user. Simple really, the man in the street ends up paying more.

Didn’t have to pay the emissions charge when I was working in Kensington last year but now I would if I was called back to that job in the same van, like @PGunter says my boss will now factor that in to any jobs we do in London

It is indeed going to come as a surprise for a lot of drivers even with quite recent reg diesels. The 2012 Skoda I have just P/Ex for my petrol A3 would not have met the new standard (being a Euro5). I live just within the North Circular area so from Oct 2021 it would have cost me £12 every time I drove anywhere.
I do agree with measures to cut pollution but this one is a tad harsh. Also not clear how they are going to police it yet as the camera system required to catch every short journey is not in place across what is most of the London area and 18 times the size of the existing central London congestion/emission zone. Use bus cameras perhaps?

Not that I would want to go to that terrible place anyway, but it's good to know I could if I wanted too.
If I did, I would throw in a cheeky wheel spin too.

Yet another thing to be policed. I bet a private company will get the contract. Like those smart cars with the cameras on the roof whizzing around central London issuing parking fines and bus lane violations.

I can’t belive it cost 50% more to park your diesel than it does your petrol car. Diesel owners get robbed either way in London

Well the mayor can now rip you off (rifle through your pockets) without giving a good reason, other than hiding behind "the clean air" brigade. The sooner he gets rid of all taxis and buses and bans the bringing of wood into the city for wood burning stoves the more he will get taken seriously. Although I see legislation is on its way for the stoves.

I don’t go London unless I have to for work and then all expenses are covered. This is why if what was said on another thread about s4/s5 going diesel I don’t see them being popular for two reason 1 diesoare just going to get taxed more and 2 it’s a diesel
