Long delays for new orders due to WLTP emissions testing

It's a pain! This happens with all new models. It takes a while for all the databases to update for brand new models/variants.. I'm having similar issues with quotes for a new S3 (300ps as opposed to the older 310ps). All the compare sites are only showing prices from the Admiral group (bell, admiral, elephant etc) - so whilst they're on the ball, most other companies are lagging behind. For the 310ps S3 I'm getting 80 odd companies quoting, but for mine, only 6! - Obviously, this narrows the options somewhat!

This will quickly improve - but it's rubbish for people in our position. I think its just a case of sucking it up this year, and then things will be normal next year when the vehicles have all been put onto the database.:icon thumright:

Yeah, I've just decided to take the hit with Elephant. Cheapest on the comparison website that actually let me pay the quoted price in the end (online though, over the phone I was quoted an extra £40 p/m!)

A few weird thing I wanted to throw out there though about my collection on Friday. The Audi tracker is showing still at the dock (json 40), but I'm picking the car up in less than 48 hours. Surely the car must be at the dealership by now for that to happen? Also the registration isn't showing up anywhere online, not even the gov.uk website to check to see if a car has been taxed yet. But my paperwork states that the car should've been registered today. My dealer is now saying that it gets registered upon collection?

Bit confused at the information disconnect. Hope there isn't a mixup somewhere and I don't show up on Friday only to have to take a train home again.

I am well peed off now.

I have just had this email from the Audi dealer I have arranged the lease with:

Please find attached Audi Finance documents for the Audi A4 Avant 35T FSI (150PS) Black Edition STronic in Manhattan Grey that you’re purchasing from Brighton Audi.

Your A4 is now physically with us so as soon as we have signed documents returned in the post, I can arrange delivery to you.

The car has been registered on a 68 plate despite my express wishes to them that it was delayed for a 19 plate.

The date of registration (5th Feb) is the date they are using as the date that the 1st months payment is based from ie 5 March despite me not having the car yet. I can't pick it up till sometime next week as I have my company car to sort out and don't want to pay for two leases at the same time. Does this mean my 3 year lease has started and I'll have the car less than 3 years.

The initial payment is shown as £4855 with no explanation in the email regarding this being an error yet they have asked me to sign the docs and return with that payment on.

Lastly the dealer is 3 miles away. Why are they delivering it. What happened to the "reveal" at the show room. Can I request to pick it up from the dealer.

Update from yesterdays receipt of Finance docs.

I blasted off a strong email last night stating how peeved I was that it had been registered so close to March and why was everything to be started from 5th Feb etc when I didn't even have the car and why no explanation about the 4k first payment.

Had a call at 8.24 this am from a Fleet Sales Administrator apologising for the misunderstanding saying she thought I wanted the car asap owing to past queries on the WLTP delays etc. She then said she had resolved all my issues.

Basically they have withdrawn the previous 68 plate re-issued it with a 19 plate, explained that the £4k was an Audi contribution and I would only pay the expected initial payment.

Apparently the Finance doc is effectively all provisional and the lease starts day of collection as does I assume the registration date. So I am collecting Friday 1st March from the dealer.

One unexpected difference is that they need my initial payment 25th Feb rather than 14 days after collection with the next payment 1st April. (I know what kind of fool am I). :friendly wink:.

Finance documents just been sent to me. Delivery on 20th, count down begins! Woohooooo. Apparently Audi will be putting some money in my account to cover the over inflated down payment, I'm sure the bank will be happy about that.

That was crazy quick, didn't yours land on Wednesday like mine? Audi asked me if I wanted to hold off and wait for the 19 plate to be registered instead of the 68, I said no thank you. Different plate same car and more waiting?? I'm ok thanks lol but hey each to their own :)

Is the offer to hold off still on the table. It's just 8 days more surely you can wait that long for a 19 plate. :pride:

Just got quoted 3K for insurance !!!

Had nothing lower than that
I’m seriously getting worried now

Just don't see the benefit of it. I've been without a car for abit so getting it asap benefits me and my little girl because it's freezing. It's only a lease so has no impact on me :)

Christ...I thought my quotes were rubbish (around the £500 mark for a new S3!)

I wonder.....Is this partly because you're only getting a limited number of quotes due to the car being too new to be updated on the insurance databases?

Have you tried ringing a few brokers and dealing with a human?

That's ridiculous... and there's me mad about an extra £14 per month.

What are you driving now and for what ££?

How long didn't take for your reg to be recognised? Mine shows up on the gov car tax checker but not on the insurance websites.

I've just been on quotemehappy to update mine and the two options closest are 'A4 S LINE BLACK EDITION 35 TFSI 110' and the same but '150'. The 150 then only gives the option of the Avant and the 110 says 4 Door Hatchback. The 110 pumps my excess to £330 and charges approx £140 extra over the remaining 7 month term...whereas the 150 leaves the excess as is and the extra is only £38.

Baffling!!

So try GoCompare 35 BE 2.0L 150 looked up perfectly on there as well as on Compare the market. I’m paying £530 now, but I should say I have had a ban in the last 3 years so that pushes mine up too.

Tesco came out cheapest for me (although I’m with direct line as tesco didn’t recognise he car when I needed it)...

The 110 one listed as 4dr Saloon is the one. It’s wrongly listed as 110 but that’s been explained earlier in this thread. Strangely too, I picked that one on I think it was moneysupermarket and the summary description then listed it as 150. So boom. Tesco on that comparison site came in at £230 more though! How random!!!

This is definitly the case. Compare the market when I was looked for my 35 BE auto gave me 6 quotes, and all were in the 1.2k mark, then a week later, it gave me 75 quotes and the cheapest was £645.

I would recommend trying Direct line, they will go to their underwriters and get it listed as you require it. That’s what I did.

If you want to try a broker, I can massively recommend Chris Knott, They will know of the new Audi A4s now as well as I went through it all with them and unfortunately they couldn’t beat direct line but the fact is they will recognise the car.

GOOD LUCK everyone, it’s taken me some serious time to sort mine but looks like they are popping up on all the databases slowly now.

I totally admire your patience folks. Never mind a wait of 10 months, but also no info from Audi, finance mess ups, incorrect or withheld tracker updates, insurance problems and very little in terms of compensation and another new version on the horizon. Audi don't deserve your custom.

I'd recommend ringing your bank before the DD payment, as 6k dropping in and out again in quick succession is going to set some kind of AML trigger i'm sure. They may block the payment out. Audi didnt do it this way with me, instead i paid the dealership the contribution i had promised and they sent it all on from there including their 6k cont.

AML for £6k? Unlikely

Fair one, although I’d say it would depend on whether that is an unusual transaction for the persons account..

A 6k direct debit isn't the norm but i've had a few large transactions in and out of my account recently so shouldn't be an issue.

True, however would have thought (but don’t know for fact) that it would take a few in/out in short space of time to trigger anything, more so from a foreign country especially one known for this kind of thing

yeah, no expert, i just know that my bank blocked my outgoing up front payment and i had to call up for them to release it, had to go through a load of questions about how i knew it as a genuine payment etc. If i had to explain a lump sum in and then out again i can only imagine it would have been even more of a chore.

But all been said, i hope anyone waiting on this has no issues :)

I used to work for a bank. They will look at how much the transaction is. Where it came from and if it is unusual for your account.

It is probable that due to the money coming from a recognised account that it will not trigger a SAR.

I posted this a couple of days ago but got no opinions so am trying again. :pride: My current Audi is a company car so not paid any attention to costs over the last 4 years.

My finance docs offered the following for my new Audi A4 Avant BE 35 TFSI Stronic based on 11,000 miles pa and a 3 years lease.

Service and maintenance £16.34 per month

Service, maintenance and tyres £24.36 per month

Please note I have an Audi service as a goodwill from Audi so if I do the flexible service ie service every 2 years or 19,000 miles I may only need 1 service which would be free anyway.

What do you think?

I’m honestly tempted just because I don’t want to have to pay for new tyres and I’ve had to previously replace two tyres on other cars because of random nails or debris from our area puncturing them. On the fence, might ask about it tomorrow.

Unfortunately tyre damage is always excluded it's just fair wear and tear.

Ah I see. I’d leave it then to be honest. Our cars will be under warrantee regardless so Audi should cover it if anything goes wrong, and the interim service costs less than a two year plan. In your case, it’s covered if needed regardless.

Wear and tear cover on the consumable parts is tempting, but it’s a roll of a dice I guess on whether or not it’s cheaper for you to shop around if and when something needs to be done.

Alright lads, wish me luck! 4am and I’m getting ready to make this pilgrimage to the other side of the country after nine months of waiting. Will post pictures and impressions of the car later on today after the long drive back!

I know mine is the S4, but I was quoted £280 from Audi for the first service that's just an oil change. Then £177 for the inspection. I'v had the car about half the length of your lease so would likely need another service and inspection in that time, meaning that the service pack would be worth it I'd say. Provided the costs are similar.

A service would cost a couple of hundred quid or maybe more. I know my local audi centre do a two service deal for just over £400. £16.34 seems a good deal. I might look at that myself.

A few pages back people were asking about the new style exhaust pipes. I thought the 35 tfsi only had one and one side was blanked off but I've just noticed that mine has one on each side :) Thought I'd mention it for those who were wondering.

Will post pictures in the morning after I've washed it.

Glad that I asked to pickup instead of having it delivered despite the distance (though three hours through rain and being stuck in traffic on the M1 was not fun...). Had a nice look around the new models before being shown to my car in this glass fronted room where they do customer handovers. Very cool experience.

Drives or at least feels a bit better than I remember the 1.4 driving back last May. Obviously not a lot of power but it's very smooth, generally quiet and feels quick off the mark. Relies heavily on the turbo when you put your foot down, but it picks up speed at a reasonable pace. Having been so used to diesels, a modern petrol car feels amazing to drive.

Brilliant black is...what I expected to be honest. Looked fantastic in the showroom, but after a long drive through terrible weather it's an absolute mess! Will need to properly wash and apply wax tomorrow.
