Have spoken with 2 dealers in the past 24 hours who have confirmed that the order books will re open for the RS3 in week 4 of 2019. Individual colours will be able to be able to be ordered from June. Have placed my name on a waiting list with a dealer, no deposit required and still have managed to agree a substantial discount.

I can't wait, have a couple of months to decide the exact spec and the colour. Do I go for a stunning Catulyna red or an individual colour?

Isn't a new A3 due out in 2019? Old model very quickly, just saying.

I wouldn’t believe the dealers - however if that’s correct you may get your car next Summer. Lol. I would calm down a bit.

Tbf I have been waiting since Aug to understand what Audi are doing, WLTP have added months to this timescale. Won't wait until the new shape arrives, need a change from the S3 had it for 7 years now.

They have back orders on all their cars. People have been waiting months since ordering. As TX says, if the order book opens up in January, you'll be looking at summer by the time all the back orders have been build and delivered.

Source? A bit early by my reckoning. Would be a another year or two I would say.
8L was 1996 (P Plate)
8P was 2003 (53 plate)
8V was 2013 (13 Plate)

All above are circa

What % discount out of curiosity. This was one the things that held me back from buying new as the discounts were feeble so settled for a used PFL

If the past is any indication, we will see the 4th gen car in Geneva next March. We might also see the new interior as soon as next month at CES in Las Vegas, which audi used to present the 8V A3 as well as the 8S TT interior.

Not to shine a negative light on your chances of getting a new car, but I’d be very surprised if the order books reopen. People doubted the FL RS3 happening 18 months ago with that huge gap between then and the 2019 release, this really is close now....

That is when we’d expect to see build slow down and the beginning of deposits being taken for the new A3, not the old shape RS3....

I would be surprised to see a 4th generation RS3 on the road in 2020.

I tend to agree but you never know. Perhaps new A3 out towards end of 2019 with an RS3 coming end of 2020, but more likely 2021. That would certainly be consistent with what went before.

I got 9% off a new built car to my own spec.

The only caveat to that would be, that not so long ago, RS models were always introduced at the end of the production cycle. If memory serves me correctly, they were still building B7 RS4's when the all new A4 was in production.

But given todays RS models are introduced early into the model cycle, then I can't see it happening myself.

Thats very good.
When did you order?

I got didly off mine but then i ordered in July 17.
Next time, if I'm in a position to order a 4th gen car, I'll wait a little longer !!

Wouldn’t surprise me, as they have lost a lot of sales this year with WLTP, they could flog a whole lot more, assuming they can WLTP them, something BMW gave up on with some of their current M’s. Then a new version could come out post the new model.

BW3 / 4 what is that?

Why would they:
Keep building an 'old' model RS3 when the new platform A3 is due out in MY19.
Or bring out a brand new RS3 in 2019 when they only just finished selling the 8v RS3 in 2018.

I reckon its BS dealer talk.

But as AN says, we shall see...

They haven’t been able to sell ANY 8V cars for at toast half of this year. Do you honestly think Audi (being the money grabbing s*ds that they are) are not going to sell 8V’s for a bit longer, especially if the “new” A3 is only coming towards end of 2019 or later?

As you say.....let’s see....all crystal ball stuff anyway from all of us

I reckon it’s BS talk the same as you. If there were builds in 6 weeks time, we’d have people on here with order numbers and being able to track their build!

Audi won’t have two A3 lines on the go, they will have to change all of the tools to build each in the presses etc.. once the new one is built you’ve got no chance.

As mentioned before, the current A3 is about to be replaced. Not sure I'd be buying a new RS3 if order books reopen.

I haven’t got my information from a dealer, it’s from Audi UK, the RS3 will commence from build week 4. I’ve seen the “engine opening for ordering MY19” document

At the end of 2019 ie in showrooms 2020, the s3 a wee bit after this date, new RS3 2021...so why would'nt you not order the current car...new model doesnt equate to being superior unless you like touchscreen MMI

As it stands, you can't order an RS3. That means if they reopen them in the new year that you could be waiting till mid 2019 for it to rock up. ETTO, but I think I'd wait.

However, this is coming from someone who bought a PFL when the FL was expected to be released shortly after!!

Several sources, admittedly none with much more than speculative hear say, are pointing to the current gen RS3 being effectively cancelled for the remainder of the 8V's production run. New orders won't open until the replacement car has an RS model developed.

Apparently though, this is wrong and they are indeed resuming RS3 production. I find it surprising, but it seems true.

This must be a build batch they have leftover, perhaps due to the WLTP emissions issue delaying planned build numbers.
Still amazed they're doing this considering the new platform is supposed to be out end of the year.

If this is the case it could also mean a considerable gap till the next model RS3 is out....

Which dealership are telling you this just out of interest? I'm due to pick a used FL up on Friday - if this news proves to be true then I will have a big decision on my hands..

This is not a leftover batch, it’s just the my19 rs3. As I’ve been saying for a while. They will not open order books and go through the hassle of wltp just to shift a few left over rs3’s :tearsofjoy:

Was reading today about the FL TTRS being available to order by April. Same power so no worries with WLTP.
