Hi all, I have paired my Samsung S8 with the concert 2 Bluetooth in the car and calls work fine, however phonebook doesn't appear nor does media on the phone work over BT, is this still normal for 2009 concert unit (No media play ) and does the phone need to have the contacts in it's own memory (internal) for the car to share them? I was using my Google contacts but have since moved them to the phone internal storage to try today when I head to work.

It has the iPod, usb and 3.5 connectors in the glove box but none of them work for external audio music from the phone either although charging works. The car has a phone prep in the armrest but I don't have a cradle for the S8.

The phone complains "the connected device is unable to work for music or audio while connected to USB" every time I plug it in to the car connector. Still some things to try but searching just brought lots of folk having issues connecting to their cars, which could just be them doing something wrong so I've not ruled me out lol.

I am a techie though, and yet this doesn't seem straight forward, and it should be!

If you have a vcd cable check see if your pop up is like this if so check your coding is correct , best to start from bottom and work your way to top , minding the bottom two you have a default off 1 to add to any number

Cheers mate, I have an older hex-can interface and the software that goes with it, not sure if that works on the 8P3....but I realised today that the car has had a Parrot interface fitted but the controller remote is missing (even though the car already has BT of its own - Audi UHV 7596) so it looks like the USB, iPod and 3.5mm jack belong to the Parrot kit and not the actual car / Concert unit - even though it is obviously connected to the Concert anyway via the Parrot unit. The audio jack is under a little cover in the centre console so that should work for audio but would have been nicer to have all audio via BT so I can use voice control on the phone for everything as I used to do in my old works Citroen van (shame on you Audi!)

I use the Audi UHV for calls and it's of superb quality at both ends, just wish the media / general audio worked too. There isnt even a slider on the BT settings for the UHV in the phone to enable audio, only calls and phonebook.

I don't think the Concert has the MMI upgrade, only Aux jack and phone BT - would this sound right? Or can I still enable music audio with VCDS anyway on the Concert 2 over BT? Thanks for the help!

I am not too clued up on the Concert 2 as I have an Rns-e in mine with BT and the BT only does phone book doesn't allow for music. The Ami I think is part off your set up as you can see in the Vcd's pop up and you can code it , so would do no harm to try it if you have cable ,

Pretty sure you can’t do music over bt with your setup. That is only for phone calls.

To play music think it should be through the ami.

Yeah I think either of you could be right, I may have to get the mmi to get the audio working, or it could be a coding issue.

To put into context my A6 is 2009 and that needs ami to play media from my phone. The bt is only for phone.

Yeah mines 2009 too so I guess the AMI is next on the list.

The mmi is from the 8v version as far as I am aware , you can still code the Aux in your concert 2 and then u could use the jack in the center console and forget about the Ami , I use the aux in mine for iPod , iPhone, android

Thanks mate, it seems the AMI is for the external CD changer model too, mine has the 6cd player built in. I guess that's the best idea is to use the aux as you suggest.

You can code out the Ami in vcds

Do you know if the blue hex-can cable and VC work on this model of car?

Rosstech say the hex can cable is no longer available but doesn't say if it wouldn't work , stick it in lappy and see if you can update it if not use the software on the lappy and see if you can get an autos an at least , save that then try see if you can change code

Yeah I thought I'd found a genuine vcds hex 2 on eBay so bought it for 55 used but questioned if it was real and they offered me the money back. Pfft.

There's one for 100 so far on bids that is genuine & certified. May just get that.

Do you know why, it seemed to pull one entry from my phone book but no others so I unpaired and tried again, now no phone book at all in the car. Tried gmail contacts then internal memory. Going to try moving them to the SIM card to see if that works. Just says "please wait" just now

Ok so i copied my phone contacts to the SIM from Google and to the internal phone memory of my S8, I can't remember which one it was but one of them was seen by the car and the car phonebook worked, then it stopped working and went back to no entries or please wait. ..anyone know what the car is looking for???
