Hi as above I’m wanting to know what the main differences are between the 8p and 8v induction kits are I hear they are different and won’t fit?

I’m wanting a new intake for my 8v but purely for noise and I can’t justify £1000+ for some intake noise.

Wondering if you could modify an 8p induction kit to fit? If not it will be a fabrication project for me from scratch

Thanks

I'm no tuning expert but the common consensus on here over the years seems to be that the stock intake is actually very good and you just want a panel filter if anything.

Yes I agree and think a few people have proved how good it is, only reason I’m looking for one is for noise not gains.

Slight sidetrack but, is it worth changing to a better filter (K&N for example) on a standard car? Or just leave it as is?

Probs get better flow but doubt it make power gains

I’ve changed them in the past on cars I’ve had tuned etc... I don’t think the RS3 will be mapped anytime soon, so possible no point?!

Blimey, doesn't your PFL have the secondary decat pipes? Is that not loud enough?! ;)

Honestly I wouldn't bother. Better places to spend your money.

Yeah it does haha and you can’t go wrong with some induction noise, if I can’t get an answer on the differences I will resort to fabricating one

CTS do a kit for both PFL and FL. I'm looking at these myself for the FL and also cant justify paying stupid money for something which essentially wont add much, if any HP over the stock intake. I'm purely looking for a bit more noise from the turbo and CTS seems to be a good option at less then half the price, not sure how much you would get stung for import duty however.

I would imagine a lot! Iv decided I will fabricate one myself for the cost and a few hours of my time in the workshop it’s worth a go

Works out at £482 delivered give or take a few quid according to the gov.uk website so what was cheap suddenly becomes borderline expensive. Still half the price of 034 motorsports or IE engineering etc.

Let us know how you get on with a custom fabrication, id be interested :icon thumright:

Looking at those cts kits. They dont say for PFL? Only the 8p and FL

Saw on another forum some custom made ones

I don’t understand why anyone would want to fit some of the intakes available to a £50K car.

I’m not convinced by the CF ones at £1k+ in terms of any performance gains but at least they look the part. Possibly, if the plan is a big turbo & Stage 3 map but for 500hp they are just not necessary.

I’d struggle to put some of this roughly welded, poorly shaped stuff on a £15k Fiesta let alone a FL RS3. 6 to 11hp is only the difference between decent fuel or a cold morning vs a warm day.

Sorry, unsolicited rant over.

It’s purely for noise ? Like you said even the £1000+ ones are what 11hp at best so what’s the point? And I work in an engineering and specialist fabrication shop so it’s cost free and the welding wouldn’t be rough? But each to their own at the end of the day it’s a pipe and a filter it’s hardly like anyone is sticking an eBay turbo to their motor.

I understand that additional theatre may be desirable. I certainly wasn’t suggesting that you were planning to make a rough one for yourself. However, why do fabricators not take some time to grind the weld smooth before coating & add a bit to the price? It still wouldn’t approach the £1k+ of the carbon versions but would look more OEM.

Really want the 034 motorsport but the LEYO one is half the price , wonder if they will sound the same
