Toying with buying a s3

Hi all currently own a 2.0tdi a3 s line stage 1. First a3 I've had love the car.. maybe I'm just chasing power boosts! Anyone made the change over before to an s3 ? So tempted. I don't do major mileage.

I had a 1.8tfsi a3 before I bought my S3, such a worthwhile upgrade. I also don’t do major mileage as I have a company van, which was my main reason for buying something like the S3. Can’t recommend the car enough, 4WD is great and the power is mind blowing after owning an a3 haha, just look at how long some lads have kept their S3’s on here, I’ve had mine for about 7/8 months now and I love it

I’ve had my S3 about 8 months now and absolutely love it. DSG is the way to go though, the gear changes are awesome

I’ve had my S3 for 12 years now.
It’s a very rewarding car with lots of potential for projects.
The biggest change compared to your TDi is how it delivers the power. Your TDi will be running out of puff at 4K revs and this is where the S3 really gets going. You will miss the low down grunt of the diesel but the S3 is much more exciting, especially if you add a stage 1 remap.

Only thing putting me off will be the running costs mpg will be a massive drop I'd of thought.

I can average 36mpg with my nana driving in my Stg2+ S3. I upgraded from a 1.8tfsi to the S3.

It’ll be a big drop from diesel mpg- petrol mpg but realistically if you don’t do big mileage then the cost won’t be much different when you factor in the price difference in fuel, if you want a sporty car you can’t expect to have good mpg, that’s not what they’re for

I had exactly same car as you with Stage 1 and went to S3,

3 years later... still in love
