So I was messing around in settings t'other day only to discover the car has a jukebox! What on earth is it and why is it "good"? I currently save music to a mem stick and use that.

TX.

As far as I know it is a bit of saved hard drive space to 'rip' a bit of music to. Couldn't really see the point to be honest.

As above. Rip loads of Cd’s to your MMI system. Great to have some lossless music from your CD collection. It’s fairly sizeable. The Manual is your friend here.

Pretty much it is a hard drive stashed in your dashboard. Forget the memory stick or card and load your whole music collection, or at least 40gb (or whatever the size is nowadays)

Had this on my previous cars never worked out how to use it as due to the copy right laws couldn't copy any of my cd's to it

Manual?

TX.

I saw the info on how exactly to set this up in the cars user manual. Can’t remember the page but it should be in the index page. It’s a good feature though especially if like me you actually own Cd’s. If memory serves you have a RS model which may have a different user manual.

OBD11 has an option to "Copy Music from CD" and the text says after activation it is possible to copy music from CD to multimedia'.

I digitised my CD collection 12 years ago and maybe 2 years ago almost all of the CDs ended up at the British Heart Foundation charity shop... I have my CD Library on an SD card in the car and Android Auto streaming Amazon Unlimited (giving it whirl instead of Spotify)….

So if you play a CD do you think it will auto copy on to the hard drive? As above I had a mem stick for the RS3 and still use that.

I think it's an option TX, it's been a feature in the high end HDD Audi satnavs since around 2009 when Audi worked with Harmon-Becker to design the original - the first version to have the 3D buildings in major cities, significant landmarks and terrain rendering.

I thought I was the last person to stop buying physical CDs and start on digital downloads - now streaming music is a practical reality I'm not even going to do that.

USB/SD-Card it doesn't matter now - both work perfectly.

FYI the car will play lossless formats like FLAC from USB or SD card. Jukebox not required. Don’t see the point of having all your music welded to the car when you can just use portable storage.
