Can some one explain what the situation is with the support an Audi franchise is supposed to give, for cars that were bought from other Audi franchises?

Specifically, I have an Audi dealer a few miles from my house, and a different dealer (from a completely different network) a few miles from my work. However they are 90 miles apart. I bought the car from the dealer near work. Am I be able to use the dealer near my house and get support from them, such as asking questions relating to why something is the way it is, how controls should work, etc. Is this something I can do because they are both franchised Audi dealers, or, do I have to go to the dealer I bought the car from?

I ask because, I'm no longer going to be working at that office, so I'm not going to have access to that dealer any more. I can use the phone of course, but sometimes it is easier to turn up with the car and say "this is the issue...".

As far as I understand all Audi dealerships should treat you in the exact same way, after all it is an Audi you have purchased.
I get the same treatment from my local(ish) Audi dealership, yet I purchased my current car from another..

That's good to know. It's kind of what I thought, but having never been in this situation didn't really know how they might deal with me.

If you have a warranty issue your local dealer should seamlessly carry out any work and if necessary bill it back to the franchised dealer who supplied the car.
Your local dealer should treat you as if you bought the car there anyway

I bought my a4 from Derby but get excellent service from Crewe.
I've found it works best if you develop a good relationship with the service dept.

Agreed on all of the above, my cars are leased and provided from down south, but are always looked after by Glasgow Audi.
If you are a paying customer its all business after all.
If you are under warranty then the dealer would charge the work back to supplying dealer or Audi direct.

That all makes a lot of sense. I was also thinking about non-warranty issues. Lets say I want help connecting my phone to my car, or I want someone to explain how to tune the radio (note these are just soft examples, I know how to do these). With "normal" purchases, one would be told to go back to where the item was purchased, to deal with their customer services. I guess it's different for cars - especially where the cars are leased such as you described, since the cars end up all over the country, so going back to the original supplier simply isn't possible.

Thankfully the forum itself is very useful for a lot of the items that would sometimes have to be a phone call to a dealer .....:icon thumright:
