Now this may sound stupid but, I have a prefacelift s3 8v with a lot of goodies on it. The only thing that’s flummoxed me is the fact that I can’t figure a way to go back to the previous song whilst streaming via Bluetooth from my phone. I know that the star key on the steering wheel can be be configured to skip to the next track which is fine. It probably sounds daft because I came from an a1 which had physical buttons for this, but is there a hidden button or combination of some sort to go back to the previous track. I don’t particularly fancy pulling out my phone for obvious reasons while driving.

Is there a back button on the steering wheel?, however if I remember right even with that it won't go back to the previous song for some weird reason. I only use AA which allows for this (appreciate that's not possible for yourself).

There’s no back button on the steering wheel. I’m assuming you mean the right and left arrows but that only moves between the DIS menus. There is a button that can be used to configure to whatever you like, but as far as going forwards or previous, you can only configure it to skip to the next track

Ahhh must be a FL thing then, as my steering wheel does. What about the volume wheel by the gearstick? Does pushing that to the left not skip back? And to the right skip to the next song (again unsure if this is a FL thing or not)

I’m pretty certain that it’s a standalone button for the volume. I will have to check after work.

No Adam is right the volume button does have left and right option as well and it will take the tracks back and forward on bluetooth

This. Every A3 8V, bar the basic radio, has the ability to skip tracks via the main volume knob:

For those who are interested this is a basic radio:

Thanks for the reply sir. I’ve never noticed that to be honest. Don’t really notice these things because I’m too busy enjoying the car lol. Will check it out later.

The basic radio looks shocking. Never knew there was anything like that available for the 8v
It’s used in a very select number of markets where options are taxed extra. I believe it’s a popular option in the EU for both rental and company lease cars.

That makes sense, I’ve heard in places like Denmark that the tax on cars is so high that it virtually doubles the price of an equivalent car in the uk. Would be interesting to see what happens over here after brexit.

I could be wrong but I believe Turkey has a 100% tax on optional extras! Most eastern countries have something like this in place, hence why the retrofit companies in these regions are so busy and advanced... people buy poverty spec cars and retrofit everything at a fraction of the cost.

That is truly insane. Not surprising though. We should count ourselves lucky in that case.
