Hi!

I am the happy owner of a new Audi A4 (my first Audi). I love the car, everything's great so far - the only issues I have are related to the MMI and the myAudi Android application. I am registered as the primary (key user) for the car. Maybe you can help me with a few questions?

1. In the myAudi app the only "external services" I have are Napster and Twitter. I read several articles about other external services that can be added, like Amazon Music. How can I do this? Amazon Music is not even listed in myAudi, nor even disabled, or "application not installed" - it doesn't appear there at all.

2. Can I add other external services, like Spotify or Google Play Music to myAudi? I want to mention that I don't want to use Android Auto as a solution, I would like to have it in the Media section of my car.

3. In the Vehicle Services section I have "Audi connect key" enabled and my phone is compatible (Samsung Galaxy S9). However - doors are not opening when I touch the handles with my phone and I cannot start the car if the key is not present. Is there anything else I need to enable?

4. The car has the Audi Sound System option - but the sound settings menu is quite limited: I only have bass, trebbble, and balance. Is this normal for Audi Sound System?

5. The navigation system doesn't seem to be using any traffic info. I enabled Google Earth, I tried both the standard and the 3D view - none of them are displaying the traffic info. Am I missing something?

6. In myAudi if I click on Vehicle Details all I can see are my VIN and my PIN number, nothing else. Is this normal?

Thanks a lot,

Daniel

Hi Daniel,
  1. Do you have an old version of the myAudi app? Amazon Music arrived with a later version of it.
  2. No, you're stuck with those two unless you use Android Auto.
  3. Lots if people have tried and failed doing this. I don't think it's active in the UK.
  4. I think so, maybe an A4 owner can give more info
  5. Have you checked the licenses for Audi Connect in the MMI?
  6. You should see you car spec and have access to a user manual and be able to lock/unlock the vehicle remotely.
Good luck
Dave

Thanks Dave! I believe I have the latest myAudi. At least it's the latest available on Google Play.

All licences in the Audi Connect look valid and I can lock and unlock the vehicle remotely (although it's incredibly slooooow)...

Have you setup the connect within the car's mmi and entered the key number? Has your car got SOS, I assume it has if its new but other countries can be different. Yes only those settings within the sound setup...

Yes, all set! The car has the SOS enabled and the key number has been entered: I am set as the primary user.

I'm same with my b9 2018 s4 , I cant get my phone to start car open doors with just phone even though I've set everything up!!!!

All should be good then, but you will not be able to open the doors using nfc on the phone as the handles do not have the sensors. Not sure about being able to start the car remotely either, certainly that feature is not available in the uk.
However you should be able to lock/unlock the car through the myaudi app, see the fuel and oil levels...

What about the traffic info? Do I need to check anything? I can see the 3D map - but apparently no traffic info...

Have put your myaudi username (email address) and password into the MMI? This may help with the Amazon issue?

Yes - added them to the MMI - this was one of the steps for becoming the primary user. My problem is that myAudi should display the Amazon Music service listed in the app - but not active. Before having Napster on my phone it was listed in myAudi as "not installed".

On the myAudi website, log in, click vehicle details, features tab, show all features, myRoadMusic. It should show the status of Amazon etc.

Nothing here. See attached snapshot. :(

Have tried either clearing the cache/data from the app, or better still, reinstalling it?

@cuke2u - I will check that for sure, maybe it was not enabled...

@DaveW - My online account looks nothing like yours. The only item displayed under "myRoadmusic" is "Additional online data". The others are not displayed at all, even disabled. :|

I'd try an app reinstall then.

If that doesn't work, try installing it on a friend's phone - if that doesn't work it's a problem with your myaudi account I suppose.

Tried on a second phone as well. The problem might be related to the country where the account was created: looks like there is a European account (like mine) and there's a US account. Where was your account set up?

I'm in the UK Daniel, are you? The features may be country specific.

Ok I've just checked your profile and can see you're in Bucharest. I think this may be why you can't get the Amazon Music service, maybe it's not available in Romania?

I created the account on login.audi.com and the location is set to UK. When I was setting it to Romania I was getting a lot of 404 Page Not Found errors.

This means I am logged in the same way as you and the only explanation for the missing functions can be obtained from the dealer.

As for Amazon not being present here, you are right. But the same applied to Napster and I created an account through a VPN, successfully paid for it, then I installed the Android apk from an alternative market. :)

Will contact the dealer in January. :)

Took some snapshots of my MMI Settings. The online traffic info doesn't seem to be listed as an option and in the entertainment settings only Napster appears. :/

Setting the vehicle to UK won't help you - the services need to be available in Romania as the data servers will identify the IP address location.

Didn't think about this.... However, my friend's A5, purchased from Germany the same time as mine, has all services fully functional in Romania.

Might be a combination between the seller's location, the account activation location and the IP address...

I think setting the car into two country versions of the myaudi may well confuse the system as you posted in #20. Sometimes everything can take 24hrs before registering everything...

Use android Auto until Audi can sort this for you. I gave up completely and just used Apple CarPlay. Works solidly for me and I never have issues. I also get access to all CarPlay apps.

It’s crazy that they still can’t make this app fool proof.

When using the phone to play music through it the sound is altered by the phone's amplifier before getting to the car. If I recall from my tests this setup allows you to change the volume independently from both the phone and the car - and this means I'll be using two amplifiers. :/

...Plus the fact that you would get only one volume setting for both music and navigation.

It's a pity to have Audi Sound System or Bose and not be able to play music directly from the car's MMI.
