Carista App Now Avaliable For the 8V A3/S3 - PFL & FL Covered

I did it with the ignition on first, got the error, & with the car running, got the error.

Not sure which one worked but they are 100% open all the time
Yeah, Carista developers tried me to try with the engine off... but with the engine off I'm not even sure if the flaps would be open so not sure. They said you could use a torch and see if they are or not.... I just stick my finger and wait for the hot air ;)

Need to try this anyway, I've got them unplugged at moment so got to mess around with putting them back in.

Tested and both pipes have air flow at idle so seems to work on a facelift too. But Carista seems to think the flaps are still enabled when I read the config

Just got a Carista and checked for faults and it came back with 16390 and 15015, where do i get to see what that means?

“No, sorry. Nothing new for your vehicle. Our focus is towards Toyota right now. The exhaust valves feature is still in the experimental phase; we haven't found a fix for it yet. I know that you are interested in this particular customization, but it's possible that it will not make it to the official release at all. We will get back to you when we have more info. “

Can anyone tell me what the logo options are on the DIS and Infotainment?

I’ve just selected number 2 and now my car is an S3 lol .

I don’t remember what the numbers are but the possible displays are:

A3 = blank
S3
RS3
E-Tron
G-Tron

I’ve tried to order this but it only allows me to order from the US - UK says none available, will this still work?

Thanks

I don't see why it wouldn't ? Odd how no stock though on Amazon, on Ebay the prices are ridiculous, some are like £100 lol... I paid £16 as a comparison which comes with 1 month free too.

Need some advice please!

Ive read all the posts on this thread and can't find and answer. I'm looking to re-enable Start Stop on my PFL S3 and i had used Method A to disable it. However, even after trying each one of the No settings, it still doesn't reset. Do I need to turn off the car for the settings to Save? I've not had to do that before

I also have the flaps set to Open, and like to put them back to default, but it doesn't seem to work. The settings show that the flaps won't be fixed Open, but they are still stuck open all the time

Any ideas?

Cheers

Carista has a few bugs and issues at the moment. Would suggest seeking out someone with VCDS in order to reverse your changes.

I disabled Start/Stop and then re-enabled it recently via Carista. I forget which option I chose but I will open the app and let you know later. Worked fine though so maybe play around with th options.

Think there was a thread recently about issues with the flaps and djalix had to get vcds to correct the issue?

I believe Carista acknowledged the flaps bug and announced that it, and VAG cars, were not priority as they are currently focused on Toyota.

Edit: and yes, had two Carista users over in order to decode their vehicles flaps with VCDS.

Sorry to thread hijack but couldn’t find an existing thread to post this and this seemed the most appropriate one (short of creating a new thread).

Just got my Carista dongle and downloaded the app, I made a couple of minor changes this morning (enabled oil temp on DIS, alarm chirp, and soundaktor volume), took the car out for 30 mins and scrolling through the DIS screens I noticed the (1) average speed counter for current journey was screwed up, it said 4mph, it was closer to 55mph? By the time I got home it had gone up to 10mph but still nowhere near actual figure.

Does anyone know if this is because I had the ignition electrics on for 20 mins using Carista (without engine fired up) and the onboard computer has somehow counted this time at zero mph? I’m nipping a bit that this will sthrow out all the long term settings if it’s somehow screwed up the average speed, if I put all options back to stock settings will Audi be able to tell I’ve used Carista and refuse warranty?

Also, I have a ‘18 plate FL S3 and I couldn’t see the option for coding the exhaust flaps open, am I missing something?

Cheers

Check your mmi settings....."measure values" where you can change the display value.

Hi mate, how do you mean? change it to what?

It’s not changed from Kilometres to Miles, its like the computer was misreading the average speed or displaying the wrong average speed.

Cheers

In Europe you have to display modes. 100L/km and KM/L

Maybe there is something of the same for MPH....

And if you reset the values with your steering wheel (everything on ---) and then take it for a drive. Is it still messed up?

Thanks for the reply mate, its not the fuel consumption, its the average speed of your journey, so for a 30 minute drive at 50-60mph most of the way, the average speed on my journey should have been like 55mph or at least 50mph, it was apparently 4mph (lol) for most of the journey and went up to 10mph by the time i got home.

I will take a look and see if I can change the units for average speed and see if it does anything, cheers

Currently this is only available on the beta version of the app - but it didn't work for me on a S3 2017 FL If you want to give it a go then sign up for the beta

Ah ok, thanks buddy

Flaps still error on Facelift... but think it may still have opened then as I see vapour on both sides even in comfort mode on idle

Anyone tried out PFL exhaust flaps yet?

Got my res delete (anti drone) from BCS done on Wednesday, sounds good :D but even with it being an anti drone the noise on the motorway (2oomile trip) was a bit annoying when around 3k RPM, more so if the car got "stuck" with boost it makes more noise then. I didn't want to kill myself, it wasn't that bad but required the music to be a bit louder :)
.
Stop cruising at 90 and it'll be quieter. LoL

2 heads up on a couple of Carista app options. This might have already been available beforehand but I haven't use mine for ages so might have missed it! First is that when you reset the oil service it now auto resets the inspection part too. Quite nice as I had my car serviced by a tiny garage here who couldn't do it. I thought it was just VCDS or Audi that could do it. Also, steering default can be changed, I put mine to "comfort" as default, makes it so much nicer as I don't have to use Audi select now every time I get in the car to make sure I have comfort checked.

Yeah, my car is FL. I messaged them as well, they said I should be able to if my car is equipped with a steer park assist module.

No idea what one of them is so cancelled my order

I think they mean that if you have self-parking feature in your car that it can be done.

From useful mods on FL, the ones that I found out to be working are:
* Mirror dip in reverse (if you don't have factory option)
* Oil temperature gauge
* Comfort indicator number of blinks
* Start/stop disable
* Beep when locking/unlocking (only with factory alarm)

Hi,

Has Carista changed its pricing structure? I was looking into this app around a month ago, and it was around £60 shipped and you could get free credits to do mods. Now it looks like its only £16 from their own amazon store, but it costs £30 a year to use after the free one month trial. Does anyone know if these mods are permanent? Or do I need to keep plugging in the Dongle?

Cheers

Not seen the pricing structure but it’s normally around £30 or less for the dongle from Amazon and that gets you a months free pass. All the mods you do are permanent. But we aware that if your car goes in to Audi and they do a reset or update then you will loose the mods hence why sometimes a full year pass is best. My old A3 went in for a simple oil change last year and when it came out my Carista mods were gone. My subscription goes from the app store(Apple). Not sure how much for a year.

Ah nice one, appreciate the response, its cleared a few misconceptions - Think I will get the subscription!

Honestly, would recommend you just use the free trial. Subscription isn't really that useful - you won't use it enough to justify the cost in my opinion. I played around with it about once and it's been collecting dust ever since.

Agree with this.

Does anybody have a definitive as to what the options below on the screenshot actually do, particularly the torque limited interaction?

It depends very much what you use it for. If it's for a few one-off customisations, then probably not.

If you use it on more than one car - and for fault-finding as well as fiddling with stuff - then it's definitely worth the cost of the subscription. A dealership will charge you sixty notes (and the rest) to plug their diagnostic gubbins in, and independents who would often do it for nothing a couple of years ago have cottoned on to what they were missing out on.

Quite apart from the routine stuff like passenger mirror dip (which should be standard), beep-on-lock and enabling oil temperature in the DIS (which the car really ought to come with as well), mine has paid for itself many times over in diagnosing faults in three cars, not to mention several service reminder resets.
