Hi Guys

Needed some guidance

My Hancooks are due for replacement before winter kicks in.
Never liked em that much.

Have my eye on
Pilot Sport 4
Pilot Sport 4S

or

Winter tyres
then switch to PS4 in Spring???

Which tyre do you guys advise?
Are winter tyres worth the expense (i live in hilly area) Hancooks really struggled in the snow despite quattro

Or will PS4 do the job good enough

My Hancooks lasted 15k miles

Thanks in Advance

..or if you can't afford two sets of tyres, go for just the PS4S's.

Just changed all 4 of mine (17 S5 SB), and they're noticeably quieter, sharper turn in, lighter feel and much better on a cold, wet road. Can't comment on snow personally, but a number of US reviews on youtube suggest very good cold performance for a summer tyre.

Michelin are still doing a promotion, I think, £25 per tyre 19" and over, if you get thru one of their authorised dealers. Fortunately not only were the F1 autocentre 2 miles away £9 a tyre cheaper than anyone online, but they're a Michelin dealer, so got a £100 cash back on a prepaid card 6 days later.

Should have said - came from Hankooks, as well.

Just realised how much price difference there is between winter and summer tyres, LOL.
Still tempted though. Just contemplating whether I should commit to winter tyres or just go PS4s and hope they hold up to some wear through the winter months.

I think the PS4s will be fine, the weather doesn't get that bad in the winter compare to other countries where it's a legal requirement. Like you I also live in a rural hilly area, however I had no issues with my S5 (with Hankook ventus s1 evo2). Taking it progressively and easy was the key.
