Although my S3 is going in under a month I am never going to criticise it after having the misfortune of driving the worse 300bhp sedan/saloon in existence..... the Holden Commodore SV6

Had the below car for a week travelling from Brisbane to Sydney.. boring, unresponsive, and for a 3.5l near 300BHP car it was depressingly dull, and for anyone who criticises the steering feedback on the A3/S3 try driving this heap of junk before moaning :)

only good point was a neat HUD display but no Bluetooth or USB connection !!!!!

Note: have surprisingly seen a large number of S3 sb’s and particularly Saloons since being in Oz for the last 2 weeks

In my work, I get plenty of opportunities to drive lots of cars from Avis which make me miss the S3 (badly). But even worse than the old commodore is the new European import, which actually means I'll miss the old SV6 by comparison.

Australia doesn't build cars down here anymore mate! Ford, Holden (Vauxhall/GM/Opel) and Toyota all shut their plants down and import only now.

@jassyo06 , @MattSedg upgraded for the trip up to Cairns, the Discovery is a completely different proposition. Great cruiser, too big for the U.K. IMHO and boot space without the seats down not much bigger than the a3/S3

@Rob2k68 Cayman S to be precise ;-)

I was in Newcastle NSW on the way to Sydney where there used to be a huge BHP steel plant that fed the car industry, long closed down and the city only just recovering. Some cracking beachside and harbour side accommodation now but still looks deprived in places in the city behind

but if you got one with the right motor, the V8 soundtrack made up for a lot of the failings :) and it was rear-wheel drive, as for the rental Insignia, looks better than it drives.

Hired in the US a few years back: Dodge charger 3.5 litre V6 high power (275bhp). Sounds great right? Wrong! The only good thing about this car is being an auto when you booted it off the lights it gave a little wheel spin squeal like in the american films. I cant think of another positive. It was a gutless wheel barrow full of water that did 20mpgs at best

S3 still a bargain :thumbs up:
Especially when this Q8 is £85k, check out the quality of the door seal.

Goodness me. £85K for a coal burning tractor! Not a good power to weight ratio either. It must weigh about 300 tons and 286 hp from 3 litres. Hmm

I'd settle for an uber fast - not so light car - yes before we put down the Q8 at least it's not this.

Plenty of similar cars here in Oz, reckon about 40-50% of the cars on the road here are big noisy 4x4’s with more noise than performance

Drama queen that doors been hit/damaged its not come from the factory like that
Both sides were the same although the drivers side was less obvious. Even if it was done in transit surely they shouldn't have it in the showroom, pride of place, asking £85k.
Maybe I'm just to fussy :blink::blink:

You’re not fussy. It’s a showroom. It’s not a place to show off damaged cars!
