I've had the RS4 grille, which came with no badge, fitted to my S Line. I quite like it without any badging on the front, however i'm still not settled on it...

My choices are:
  • re add the chrome Audi rings
  • Add black Audi rings
  • Leave as is
What would you do?

N.B. I will add the number plate, still tbc on where and size though

My personal opinion - it doesn't look OEM enough as is. I'd fit black rings and the (stock sized) numberplate, with an Audi-Sport surround, in the stock location. There's a crash bar there so you're not gaining any airflow not having the numberplate in the stock location.

Out of interest, who supplied the grille?

Kind regards,

Paul

These guys supplied the grille https://www.xenonz.co.uk/, i understand the lack of badge is due to copyright issues.

I hear what you say about the number plate, however i'm actually considering fitting either a motorbike square plate or cutting down a standard size plate (left and right edges) and placing it lower down, when the bottom of the bumper is. I hate how the horrible white plate messes up a nice grille.

I'm erring toward black rings too.

Thanks for your input!

Looks very nice @Russboy , loving the relief of the characters on the plate.

Your badge looks integrated into the grille, at least the backing - did you add the carbon fibre front yourself?

I'm considering a private plate with the fewest characters i can get, for as cheap as i can, just to have a short number plate like yours. I'm not concerned about sentimental value!

Yes I changed to the carbon fibre effect rings, just have to make sure you get the right size by carefully measuring up.

Private plate is my partners is initials, bought it for her years ago.

Really nice mate but how did you attach the number plate to the grill without the bracket it comes with?

I did use the bracket, I just cut it down for the smaller plate so that none of it is visible.

Looks slick as you can't notice the black surround it comes with. you have any pics when you did it to give me an idea on how to do mine as i have the black surround on it and looks ugly as i have a 6 character number plate. Does a shorter plate affect MOT?

Shouldn't do. All the rules and regs i have read around number plates relates to the typeface and size of the characters, as well as the colour of the front and rear plate. Plate size doesn't come into it (for cars).

Sorry, only have pics with the bumper off and then all done.

IIRC once I had cut it down I drilled holes through it in the middle to cable tie to the grill, making sure they were far enough away from the edge to be visible and then double sided tape on the plate.
