Good Day Guys and girls, I thought id start this thread to give you a little insight into our latest development.

Since 2013 weve tuned a lot of the EA288 2.0 TDI engines, these come in various states of tune ranging from 75ps upto 190ps found in a lot of Audis, VW, Skoda etc.

This 190PS found in various Audis has recently been replaced by a new updated engine called the EA288 Evo.
The 150kw/204PS found in the A6/7/Q5 comes with a 12v mile hydbrid system. Eventually this new range of engines will find their way into various other VW Group cars and will come in various states of tune.

Weve recently taken delivery of a new A6 40TDI that has allowed us to start our development programme on this engine, and our initial impressions of the car general are positive. So much so that were currently looking to purchase one to add to our current fleet.

In recently years Audi have started to use SENT digital sensors, rather than the usual analogue sensors. These are found in the new 3,0 TDI, 1,5 TFSI, 2.5TFSI,2,9 anD 3.0 TFSI and now in the new 2.0 TDI Evo

Weve conducted several datalogs, and have a kit installed to our test car and im really pleased with this. Over the next few days ill be adding quite a few miles to the car and intend to take it to the dyno asap..

So if you have a 40TDI and are looking to upgrade it, then keep an eye on this space :)

Thanks for reading so far

Forgive my ignorance, what's the new numbering all about? 40?

The new Audi engine designation is supposed to make it easier to compare engines. No matter whether it is a diesel or petrol, the higher the number the more power output. So a 45 will be more powerful than a 40. For each number, there is actually a number of different engines, giving a range of slightly different power, but they don't cross over the 2 number band. So this featured 40TDI with 204PS is the highest in its band. The next engine up the range would have a 45 designation, although at the moment the A6 is only offered in the UK with either 40 (204PS) or 50 (286PS) TDI engine.

I’d imagine the 45 TDI will be the 3.0 tdi 231ps

Plus it makes some parity between fossil fuelled engines and electric ones with their power outputs. In East Asian they have been using these badges for a while now...

I also am taking delivery of one of these in a few weeks (40tdi A6 saloon), am curious to see how it feels stock, what numbers are to be expected with the box?, also be good to hear from anyone that has one what they are like

we now have our own A6 Avant 40TDI on fleet and in standard form the cars now bad, not bad at all.

Ive been running our car now for the last week with the box and decided to switch it off this morning.. OMG, the car feels so lifeless and certainly not as fun as it has been over the last week.

The car hasnt been on the dyno yet, but id say that the difference between stock and tuned is as good as the difference between a 2.0 184ps..

I know im biased, but the box makes a massive difference and something 40TDI owners should consider :)

It'll be interesting to see the numbers once it's been on the rolling road.
