Cruise control & DIS install issues

So i got my mechanic to install a cruise control and DIS stalk into my B7 today and guess what? Neither work. ****** annoying as he didnt test them out before i had to take it away so now i have to take it back. Trouble is im not sure he can do it. He didnt use vagcom and all the online guides look complicated to me. He might have used some laptop based copy maybe? He said he'd thought the code had taken but before i went there i asked about the washer bottle sensor warning and he said there was none (bearing in mind id sent him instructions for this beforehand and said it was definitely required). Can the coding b done without official vagcom?

He also fit new brake pads and a few mins into journey home brake pad light came on and hasnt disappeared! Fun day.

Cheers anyway! I knew i should have got a specialist. Im guessing brake pad warning could b use of cheap pads with questionable sensors. Triple burn with brakes, dis, and cruise issues!

It may well be that you have a steering control module that does not support DIS or cruise control.

Has it got MF steering wheel?

It's not to do with the steering wheel. It is the module that is bolted to the columm that all the stalks plug into. There's a range of part numbers and all have different combinations if functionality.

Oh. I was told if u had that steering wheel, it was fine. Im sure i saw a guide somewhere that said that. I wasnt going to take it off myself so that's annoying if true. Shouldn't have bothered

I was told the 3 spoke wheels with the sound system controls were all mf?

I was under the impression that all modules that support the mfsw also support cruise, so if you have the buttons on the wheel working then you can add cruise.

I read through the entire Cruise thread in the stickies section above before fitting mine.
I'm fairly sure it's in there that if you've got functioning MF wheel then it's CC ready.
Doesn't make it 100% right though.

So ive been let down and now have installed stalks that do naff all. Well wipers work on DIS stalk but yeah, not good. Is there anyone in leeds who can code CC and DIS, and ground pin 1 for me for a reasonable price?

So i took it to some VAG specialists in Leeds and they coded everything. However, it transpires that some **** ebay seller sold me an A6 dis stalk but labelled it as being from an audi a4 avant so the buttons dont work. Very annoying. Can i clarify the exact part number for the dis stalk that will work in a b7 avant? Any help would b greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone has one and wants to sell let me know?

Oh the part i have is 4E0 953 503C

He said part should b 8E0 953 503C but when i look it says that only fits a B6 and fine is a B7. Completely stuck with this now.

Also, every guide says that washer bottle error is a given but both mechanics ive spoken to say u should b able to code it out without grounding pin 1. Are they ill-informed?

Anyone in Leeds or nearby able to help? Sorry to pester but even just advice around the part number for the dis if nothing else? Other vag specialists want 50 quid just for a diagnostic before doing anything. If it's as simple as just the dis stalk then that would b good to know.

both fit A4 but 8E0 is only showing as A4 fitment whereas the 4E0 fit numerous variants.

Bring it around here I’m in Leeds, I retrofitted both cruise and Washer level on mine.
