Hi All,
Just checking those of us without the Extended LED Interior Lighting Pack – multi-coloured. Who just have the standard white led lights. There are no front driver and passenger Footwell lights that i can see which should always be on like the LED lights in the door door cards ?

can anyone else confirm this please

Check the settings...I think you need to press right in the mmi to get the individual settings. These are right down at the bottom level by default. Took me a while to work out as well!

Hi,
I found the interior brightness option in mmi but only adjusts door cards and not footwell. maybe there are no footwell lights that remain on as standard in the S4 B9

You sure you selected the sub menu when on the lines menu? There is an additional menu.
And they are on all the time on mine and mines just a sport

Just checked. Go to background lighting, press right. Then you'll get options for front, rear, and footwell lights. Footwell lights are normally all the way down by default.
I can confirm again, turning them up leaves them all the time when driving

Just checked mine on the way to work just now, no footwell lights are on when the headlamps are on despite background lighting being set to full on all. Perhaps there were changes from my2017 to my2018?

I suspect that there is an ambient light sensor in the car as the advanced interior lighting pack appears to be inactive when driving during the day with the headlamps on (i.e. in the rain).

Even with the extended LED pack on mine, if I don't set them specifically to come on using the individual settings then the default setting is for them to be off while driving no matter how dark it is.

This is how mine work, as I stated they do not necessarily illuminate all the time....

On mine (MY18) the stairwell LEDs always come if the headlights are on - matter if its just a dull cloudy day or night time.

As I stated before this might be a difference between my17 cars and my18 ones, where you have to set the background lighting as individual, not any of the standard colours, to have the footwell lights on. I can assure you this is the case with my car as I did so, as others have done, this morning...

Even while driving? Mine come on (all white) when I open the door then dim down and just leave the other strip lights on which will change to whatever colour is selected from the last drive. Mine is a MY18 build but I have the extended LED pack, I don't know if that makes any difference.

None of mine illuminate if the wipers are set to auto, then they come on due to rain, thus making the headlamps come on as well.

Interesting! I very rarely put my wipers on apart from a quick push down on the stalk so I've never noticed that.

They obviously come in if the ambient light is poor enough for the night/day sensor to detect but with the showers we've been having during the day recently not at all...

Correct, doesn't matter if my car is still or not, as long as the auto headlights come on (even during the daytime if its a bit dull outside) then all my interior LEDs come on, incl the footwell LEDs. My car is also My18 and I have the extended LED pack, with purple chosen as the colour of the interior LEDs :)

Ah, if I choose an individual setting then I have them on. If I choose any of the presets they dim down though.

Yeah sorry, forgot to mention that i have chosen individual settings in MMI as my choice of colour (purple) isn't available in the pre-set options. That probably explains why the purple LEDs always come on with the main headlights.

So we have established that under the default settings then no footwell lights are on and if the auto headlamps come on during daylight, such as when it is raining, no background lighting comes on. However when individual colours are selected then they are all on all of the time when the headlamps are on irrespective of the outside ambient light...

Yep, that's pretty much spot on :)
