Eibach Suspension Picture Thread

Hmmmm

So would B6 be good for the pro-kit?

Sent from my DEVICE using Tapacar
I can't answer, sorry, but I read on VW forum that the B6 is almost as stiff as the B8 (not as much but very close). But as the B6 is a full length shocks in comparison to the 25 mm shorter B8 and due their gas pressure technology, they don't let your car settle as much lower as your new springs allow. Actually, the B8 do the same. I lowered my car with the VWR and oem dampers first time. Shortly after I replaced the OEM dampers with the B8 and my front (front only) risen by approx. 7 mm. It didn't get lower during next couple of months (approx. 5000 km) and the ride was harsh, especially on low speeds (better on high speeds though.)

Hmmm .... I would love if you got a picture of it .... Is it bolt up or welded ?

Sorry for taking this thread off topic dp_motley .... I haven't posted any pictures of my quattro sportback with the eibach fronts fitted yet because it's not all together ....

But I may anyway .... Even though it's just the fronts .... Well actually I am.

Looks good. What else are you going to add? What springs are on the back if not Eibach? I have non-Eibach setup on the back, though I will fit the Eibach there too when I sell my car.

P.S. I love the US law that lets ride without front number plate

Oh okay .... So I'll definitely be staying away from Bilstein .... They have the right Concept but aren't refined enough for specific use.

I've heard that Koni yellows are the best for comfort .... I started a thread on golfmk6 to see what they thought was best .... Seems koni and DG were the w

ay to go .... Although I could only run DG on the front of my car if did by them

Thanks,

I like the look, just the rides still quite over reactive.

My VWR's still .... Was planning on swapping them out but life's been busy .... And it's my only car.

I'm thinking that I may change to golf R usdm springs .... They should sit a little lower than stock but ride like stock with out the over reactive tendencies of lowering springs. If only companies made springs that are OEM spring rate but lower to just remove wheel gap and lower the centre of gravity. The Mk7 R eibach pro-kit is 5% softer than OEM apparently and it makes the R ride better .... Now they need to do the same concept for other cars.

As to the plate ....

Not US law .... My law

Canada to be precise ....

Guess the fuzz just don't bother me about it .... It looks much better without it anyway

Wondering if anyone can help. I'm looking to upgrade to Eibach Pro kit with Bilstein B4. Can't seem to find a definite answer on which Front axle load I should go for though and my drivers door sticker doesn't state any weight.
Eibach Pro have two options - up to 1065kg or up to 1155kg. I have a 1.8tfsi fwd dsg so which set should I go for?

The sticker is located under the hood. Open it and look to the far left corner when you stay with your face to the car (UK driver side, closer to the windshield).

Yeah I checked that one too but it's blank as well. Have no idea why Audi Japan didn't add the info! Driving me nuts as I really can't find a definite answer online. Demon Tweeks didn't know either as I was planning to order through them.

Is the weight difference not based on whether it's DSG or manual? The tech specs I found online state the 1.8tfsi dsg has a front load of 1080kg and the manual is 1045kg. Appreciate the help btw!

Replaced rear MSS Streets Kit springs with Eibach Pro yesterday. Now it's a full Eibach Pro setup. The springs didn't settle yet, I guess, and the car looks higher at the rear than it was on MSS. They also feel softer with a slightly more body roll than MSS, but for the price they are great. I only wish they were a bit lower.

On a bad side, I noticed that the headlights cut too low, too close to the car and must be re-adjusted.

Looks really nice. Is that with Bilstein B4 shocks and TT rear pads? I eventually managed to work out the correct pro kit springs I need and this setup your running is it exactly what I'm looking at going for.

It's Bilstein B4 shocks with standard A3 rear pads. The TT pads are thicker and people use them with other springs to eliminate reverse rake. It's not the case with the Eibach Pro as they are fine and level by itself.

You know of course that we should al really be buying springs by the weight measurement, compared to the un-sprung weight of the car. That way in arithmetical terms we should be able to work out what the originals were and so what is stiffer or softer. If you ask me dealers/spring manufacturers keep this info to themselves, so they can tell us what's best for our cars, making them the "experts" and us in the dark comparing pictures of springs, no offence to other forum members intended but it is the best way to go, if you can get the relevant info.

Thanks for the info. That's good to know as I was thinking I'd need to get the pads as well. Do you think the springs will drop a bit more once they settle? The pro-kit drops just a tad lower than s-Line height?

It's very confusing especially for people attenpting this for the first time. I actually found the correct springs and product code (or what Eibach think is correct) on their online catalogue for Japan. It didn't have the higher rated springs for my model (ABA-8PBZB). Perhaps that means they are for the Quattro 1.8tfsi version which was never available here.

Somewhat related to the above post ....
Or rather 2 above ....

Eibach does seem to do a good job at level spring setups .... Road in my friends A3 2012 Quattro TFSI .... It's pretty level .... Much more equal wheel gap .... And it rides awesome .... Now I wondered why mine always rode so stiff no matter what setup I have on the car ....

Swaybars!!!!! I run them on full stiff ....

soooo think this may have been the ride problem I have been chasing ....

We'll see tomorrow evening when I set then on soft ....

Anyways if it all works out I'll be eibach front and rear .... And maybe I'll switch out my front sway for the stock item.

I'll post pics likely soon.

If the s-line ride height is -25 mm off the SE, the Pro kit should lower it by 5 mm as they promise -30 mm off the SE. However, if you use the Pro kit with the Bilstein B4 instead of the oem shocks, you shouldn't expect any more lowering. Due Bilstein's gas pressure technology that they use in their shocks, they [shocks] seem to keep the car approx. 5 mm higher than the oem ones with the same Eibach springs. I experienced it with the VWR springs & B8 combo in which the B8 kept the car, front particularly, 7 mm higher than the same springs with the oem shocks that I tried before the B8. The same apply to the Eibach Pro & B4 setup: the real drop is approx. 24-25 mm off the SE, which is the S-line ride hight. I don't know how it would work if you fitted the Pro kit with the oem s-line or sports shocks. Perhaps you could get additional 5 mm drop (30 mm off the SE) in this case.

Good to know, thanks.

Although my A3 is an "s-line" I think they sold it just as an exterior package here with 17" wheels. From the look of the arch gap it looks more like SE or possibly Sport height. Pic above you posted looks a reasonable drop for what I'm after. Although I think I liked the VWR spring and B4 combo the most out of all the setups you posted.

My SLine shocks on Eibach Pro was slightly lower than with the current new B8 shocks. I’ve got used to B8s a bit more so but only been on a month now. I also have Eibach sway bars front and back.

This was my problem, car was originally an S-Line but I wanted to go to -30mm and Eibach didn't go that low, I tried to do an S3 set up but when that didn't work I went for H&R springs. They are probably not everyone's cup of tea though, they are noticeably stiffer, I actually like it that way but Eibach do give a more OEM ride quality, I had them on my Golf before the A3.
All the figures given for ride height e.g. -25mm are 25mm less than standard ride height. I think the problem comes when people take their cars to local garages who fit non Audi springs, probably due to cheapness and sometimes they don't think to ask for S-Line or don't care, so when you buy a 2nd hand car it could really have the wrong springs, hence the *** in the sky ride you see sometimes.
Incidentally I can't calculate the correct springs form the unsprung weight either but I just think it is the way we should be heading as it takes the guesswork out of the whole thing. German Tuning shops always go by this and anyone who has an old or unusual car where companies don't normally supply lowering springs, suitable springs can be calculated by what's available, obviously dimensions as well as the weights.

Thanks in advance.

New hardware for the install you'll need .... There should be a DIY or something of the sort on golfmk6.com that'll list what's needed.

Also you'll need new top mount bearings up front and I'd recommend TT front mounts as well.

hello lads, just bought an a3 8p, just browsing thru and stumbled across this thread. ive got a vectra vxr and its my 4th vectra, love them but i do plan to move on to an s4 next at some point, done loads of stuff including fitted eibachs, hence why im commenting on this. i see some have mentioned about top mounts etc, i was wondering what the score is with all that on these being the first audi ive owned. when i changed my springs i changed the top mounts and bearings plus the drop links is this a similar thing to do on these? i also noticed someone has mentioned TT mounts whats the reason for that?? is there rear mounts to change too?? cheers man

Sweet ....
You should post a pic of your vectra vxr.

For the A3 .... Top mounts and bearing plus hardware should be changed when changing springs. What spec is your A3?

The TT mounts are stiffer and apparently make less noises.

The RS3 top mounts are also more stiff and oddly cheaper I believe - I have them fitted thinking they would cure my squeaks. Turns out it was the SLine shocks creaking over road humps.

Yeah sure i will. Tried it there but they are too large i will have to downscale it somehow.

Its a 2.0tdi black edition in red.

Ah ok, anywhere i can get genuine or the same make cheaper than audi

Lemforder made the vauxhalls ones i got them from euros half the price. It even had the GM badge scrubbed out robbing *****.

Was just about to post exactly the same question. Do the top mounts need to be changed both front and rear? And is changing the drop links a must? Bump stops too?

Nice. Red is on my list for a next car .... I live in Canada so I sorta need a high vis car for these driver's.

Plus red just looks outstanding on the 8P.

Well I'm not sure where .... Awesome GTI probably can help you out .... But febi and lemforder are good brands for Audi/vw too. Febi is an OE supplier and likely lemforder too.

If you find the part numbers you then can search in Google to find the lowest prices .... For the febi mounts etc.

Ya the whole branding deal .... My bushings that are febi are scrubbed ..... And my MAF that's Hitachi is scrubbed and they are the only supplier of that part for VW/Audi and it was over a hundred Canadian CHEAPER for the Hitachi version. Rip-off VW!

Anyway, the front mounts need to be changed for sure .... Including bearings.
But the back ones don't really need changing.

Hello all, I have a 2008 S Line and wanting to lower the car by another 25mm , current gap between bottom of arch and top of tyre is 50mm. I have been advised to go for the Eibach Sport Line springs as these lower the car and still give a good ride (allegedly?)

Does anyone know more about this?

Guys I need your input... My car is on SE suspension and I'm thinking to lower it as it looks like a tractor with the 18 inch rotor wheels :)
My main requirement is to keep comfort as this is a daily driver. My other A3 with sport suspension, even though is quite comfy, it's crashy on every road imperfection.
What is your experience with eibach pro kit? I'm not planning to replace the shocks as they are only on 45000 km.

You’ll have to shorten the shocks to fit the springs on surely ? So why not just replace them for better ones while your there ?
