My s3 v6 build

Picked up two new side indicator lenses as the old one are going green. And got some rubbers for above the the head lights delivered. Still waiting on the water pump kit eta 31st that’s over two weeks from ordering to delivery

Not sure what to do about head studs/bolts it seems arp don’t do studs for the vr6 block and that you need to drill the holes bigger And re tap them for the arp studs to fit which I do not fancy doing so it seems il be getting standard head bolts

Are the side repeater lenses genuine ones mate? Have you got the part number for them please?

Yeah genuine £12 each il get you the part number just nipped out just need new fog lights now mine are dull wil freshen up the car with all new lenses

Thanks mate, I changed the fogs on mine a while back and it made a big difference. I got my genuine ones off eBay (Poland) for half the price of buying over here so have a search on there first.

What made you decide on gtx35 Tij? I’d imagine a gtx30 would make 500bhp on that no problem as they’re making 500+ on 2.0 tfsi’s. Or are you future proofing?

Just planning for future from every build thread I’ve read that all have one thing in common after a while that alL want more power . And I’d rather run the gt35 at a lower boost or turn it up and aim for 600( most likely)

Sounds good dude. How much can you push these de compression gaskets? I’m guessing you’ve been looking at similar powered 3.2’s with these so they must hold up okay.

I have seen a few doing well with a gasket. I’ve been speaking to a guy on r320c who’s running just under 700 On spacer plate and twin scroll turbo and a standard head. I’m sure some of the gaskets have let go at less but at least I know bigger numbers are possible with them

Those numbers ur quoting are good. It will be a rocket when it's built and mapped.

Hopefully but mine will be nowhere near them numbers,I’m not getting to hung up on what power it makes. I’m thinking more off build it with the parts I think are best to want I want to achieve and is in budget and as long as it runs good I’m not to fussed if it could of made a bit more or not if I want to start chasing numbers down the line then I know I have a decent baseline to start with

That’s good then, imagine having to buy 6 pistons too lol
I know at £200 gasket sounds a lot better but I still might have to I’ve not opened the engine up yet so I don’t know what state it’s in so if there’s any piston or bore damage I’m going to have to

Whilst on holiday I ordered the r36 rod bearing and a scuttle panel and 4mm head gasket (bit early for the panel ) and a s3 badge for the
Mfsw head bolts will be ordered in the morning just need rods now to get engine work started
Hopefully at the weekend I can get the mfsw working and swap the Bluetooth for a newer unit and loads of other bits like fit the Ali mirrors front splitter, Wind deflectors, side repeaters rear brake caliper refurb and paint, finish rebuilding the 18z calipers and look into why the drivers door won’t open using the outside handle and since the battery is disconnected I have to climb in through the boot and boot full of other crap to be fitted

What did you get the 032 rod bearings for and are you going to get the coated mains too?

Seems like a good price but then you remember there are 12. Haha

I’ll chase up rods.

Yeah still it’s same with head bolts £7.50 each but there’s 20. There’s no major Rush I’m tempted to let the mechanic I know who storing the engine to do the internals side as he’s done them hundreds of times and once the bare engine is together I can get involved as he’s not up to speed on the custom turbo mods side of thing soI can sort that side with the info I fined on here and on line and with his mechanical knowledge that way It will get done quicker and the engine will be right and I can get the hours in At work and buy more stuff

Head bolts ordered today chased up the water pump I ordered over 3 weeks ago still on back order will be the 22nd November now that’s over 6 weeks wait for a water pump unbelievable

What the! Are they a common failure part or rarely need replacing? Lol

I can’t believe it 1st they told me the 8 —10 days then it was 31st phoned today and no it’s the 22 nov apparently Audi are waiting on there supplier I hope it’s not common failure after waiting this long it really in a rush as rods will probably be end of the month then drop it all off to the garage

No need new gear box @IanPG has it detailed in his thread the casings are different but he fitted is s3 gearbox into the 3.2 casings

correct - gear housing the same but the clutch/flywheel housing is different

does the 3.2 engine fit to OEM s3 gearbox just like that? I have been in belief they dont.
so as a direct swap - it doesn't fit

New scuttle panel arrived today along with new head bolts and the r36 friction coated bearing @IanPG mentioned building a nice little stockpile at the min.also ordered a reversing camera kit not that I’ve ever struggled to park the s3 but since all the dash is out to do the mfsw and Bluetooth thought I might aswell

Are you getting a cabled or wireless reversing camera? my entertainment system can support a reversing camera I was wondering about the switch, but apparently you join it up to the reversing light. If I ever get the mechanics side sorted out I may re-visit the electronics :)

Yeah just run a feed to one of the reverse lights to act as the switch

Cabled,I’m going to try and paint it to match the car was going to get a number plate one but I think it will look a bit daft on s silver car, if it was darker it would look ok

Whilst the door panel is off I’m trying to figure why the drivers outside door handle won’t work with the panel off I can see the mech moving

Wd40 saves the day door alworking now and swapped my side old green looking indicator lens for new ones, how much of a job is it to change the door hinges?

Tomorrow’s job strip the boot lining out and run the wires for the reverse camera, change the alarm siren and strip out the Bose sub and amp waiting for my Andy Mac one to be delivered and if I get the battery charged get the wind deflectors on so I can leave a window cracked open to let a bit of air in

Yeah so today just gone pear shaped thought I’d do a few bits I could today tried to get the mfsw working but gave up in the end still keep bringing up the pin screen when ignition is on so left it will order a new rnse I think to see if it’s that (daft I know)
But I did manage to rebuild the 18z brake calipers, went also cleaned out the boot and back seat to clean the r32 never realised I bought so much cleaning gear and none of it had been opened this is what I had left after I gave me mate 3 bottles of autoglym
Didn’t manage that either
Got pressure washer out and it started raining so I just went inside to sulk for abit ha

I'm not really an "all about the looks kinda guy" but you want to get some spacers on those wheels dont you? it ain't a Citreon BX

although I have spacers on my TT and now on bumpy roads the tyres keep hitting the arches :D :D

Yeah the wheels look silly don’t know how they left the factory like that but they will be going for some 18” to cover the 18z brakes and fill the arches
the Citroen bx my grandad use to have a few of them don’t see
Them no more, paint works looking good on yours.
And the knife what can I say I’m from Manchester haha no I couldn’t undo the knot on the car cover so cut it off

the paint always looks good in photos, it's awful oxidised roof rails and bubbling paint around the rear window, I dont think TT's suffer the rusty wheel arch issues in the A3/S3 and Golfs. they might be plastic?

I need to get some piston rings parts request comes in at £396 which is cheaper than TPS with trade discount for a full set. but carpartsforless (owned by eurocarparts) want £10 per cylinder for a mahle ring kit, what make are oem rings and what makes to avoid ?

£8.50 with a 15% discount
Seems cheap maybe to cheap?
Well rods have been delivered and ordered a oil cooler kit, list of bits is still massive but it getting smaller bit by bit, thinking I’m going to Leave the standalone ecu Nd electronic boost control for now want to get it running so just use the waste gate spring pressure to regulate boost Seems the tried and tested route on vr6 turbo builds I’ve seen also the united motorsports mapping seems to be popular choice for the r32 turbo scene but they seem to send the ecu off. I’d prefer it custom mapped as there are to many variables. So Im still hoping bill will map it

Anyone have experience with the aem fuel pumps? Are they any good

Mahle are a reputable manufacturer. They make the oem pistons in our engines
