Hello and good evening.

I'm just sitting here reading about the differences from normal 'RON 95' fuel to 'Shell V-Power Nitro+' fuel here in Norway / Europe. After reading a little about it and after watching some videos about them, it seems to me that there might be some small / better differences on them on cars with alot of power and turbos. And my Audi S1 Sportback (2015) is Stage 2 tuned. It's also decat'ed and straightpiped with a Milltek Sport Exhaust. So it has 340 HP and 500 NM of torque.

But on normal family cars with under 100 HP for example, my understanding is that you wont notice any differences here.

So, my question for other Audi S1 Sportback owners here is.....

  • Have you noticed any differences from normal 'RON 95' fuel to 'Shell V-Power Nitro+' fuel if you have tried both on your stock or tuned S1 car?

I know my S1 is rather new, so the ECU or the computer in it will adjust the engine for the best towards the type of petrol i'm using anyways, i think.

But what's important for me to know is.....

  • Are there is any differences overall on the fuels here on an Audi S1?
According to those 2 articles, Shell V-Power Nitro+ should be better than normal RON 95 fuel on some cars.

  2. https://alvinology.com/2015/10/11/5-reasons-why-you-should-switch-to-shell-v-power-nitro/
I'm rather gonna ask about this here before i eventually waste some money on no gain.

Hi mate. Glad you are enjoying your S1. V power here in the UK has just been upped to 99 Ron. I have run mine on v power from new and had remap at 1600 miles so I can't help you with any before or after but most maps are designed to work best on high octane. My abt map came with a sticker on the fuel flap saying 98 Ron minimum.

Hey. Thanks for the answer.

Now i have double checked the fuel cap on my car. And it says this.....

20181101 173527

So that means that the RON 95 is just the minimum fuel i can use.

I'm gonna try out the Shell V-Power Nitro+ a little later to see if that will make any differences at all on my car.

I had my previous car mapped and was recommended to use super/premium fuels.

When I bought the S1 I carried on doing that so I can't comment on what it feels like to drive on standard unleaded fuel. My stage 1 APR map (running Shell Nitro as always) returned good results (see signature info below) so I'm happy to keep using it :)

To be honest unless you're getting pre-ignition/detonation (pinking) then stick with the SHELL 95 RON; but if you want to splash-the-cash then go SHELL V-Power - it'll sure make you feel better/kinder to your motor. :friends:

I run a supercharged/turbocharged 185bhp A1 and have run both SHELL V-Power and SHELL Premium and I've yet to find/detect any difference, even in the fuel economy over similar drive patterns remains the same. Same is true with my TT and RS3.

The primary aim of the higher octane SHELL product is to suppress pre-detonation and I'm sure, as I have, you'll find the remaining elements SHELL proclaim advantageous to the combustion side of your engine to be very, very similar; if not the same.
