Hi guys!

So, I happened to buy an S3 with a cracked head, and I am struggling to find a new head here in Norway. I do have a head from an APP engine I am able to buy though.

So my question(s) are. Will it fit bolt on without any modifications to the head? And if it fits, are there any drawbacks to fitting an APP head?

Have seen that there are a lot of helpful and knowledgeable guys here, so I hope you can help me!

Welcome mate to the forum. **** luck about buying a s3 with a cracked head. As far as I know you can swap the heads on these s3's with each other. Also I think you can add vvt to it if the other one comes with it.
I'm sure more knowledgeable people will come along and help you out.

Hi! Thanks for the kind reply!

Like you say, it seems that I can swap heads with other S3´s without a problem, besides some have VVT´s and some have EGR and stuff. To be honest I really haven't been able to understand all the differences, and what can be, and cannot be done.

the APP head I have on hand is from an Audi TT (180hp I believe), if this makes any difference. The seller had asked a friend, and he said that it would fit, but that I might had to block the EGR outlet (?)

Thanks again for the reply! Much appreciated!

All 20v heads are interchangeable as a casting... there are just subtle differences across the years on some of the hardware...

APY is not a VVT head so if the APP has it then you can't use it as such (not at least without doing a wideband conversion) but you can leave the tensioner if you prefer...
210/225ps engines in TT's, S3's and LCR's have shims under the exhaust valve springs... not exactly 100% on the purpose as they are a bit thin for adding preload... they could also be in place to spread the load of the spring to prevent wear on the casting from the extra heat generated by K04's...

Either way you can decide for yourself if you want to go through the 'joy' of stripping the head to swap them over

APY has SAI so if you have deleted it yo will need to block the port assuming the APP has it of course
