Manually locking fiddle

Been told once that, We should use the actual key to open the car using our door locks every once and a while.
Did that recently and discovered something strange.
All doors getting locked, on turning the key in the door lock and alarm arming beep is there but opening the car with the key, opens the drivers door only (presume it's normal) but will not disarm the alarm. Soon as I get in, alarm gets triggered.
Anyone got that also or is there something wrong with it?

Just checked the lock and ignition and it worked.
Think that's how it supposed to work, to open the the door with the key in the lock and get in the car to start the ignition. Then alarm disarm and doors unlock.
