S3 is 2 years old 11000 miles and due an inspection service in 28 days, anybody know what work is carried out and how much I should be paying

I could be wrong but I think the inspection is exactly that, a visual inspection - as for cost, I've not had the privilege yet but I don't think it's cheap for what it is!

My 2yr old S3 had it's inspection service, along with an oil/filter and pollen filter change last month, total cost was £368 at Audi.

If you are on 11K miles in two years you should be having the inspection and oil change together really, becaue you should be on fixed (annual) schedule.

Just about to say the same. My 2 years service/inspection/oil change etc. was £220.

it had an oil service last year so yes would be looking to get oil and filters plus inspection at the same time been quoted £386 which I think is a bit expensive for 11000 miles

All you get is an oil change, new oil filter and a pollen filter, then a whole bunch of visual checks, all for £386 as you have mentioned. Bit expensive! But that's Audi.

Or get exactly the same done using genuine Audi parts and without affecting your warranty for £220 :) Go Audi specialist.

Right, I've just checked my MMI and this is what it shows, am I on fixed (yearly) or variable? Car is currently on 2693 miles.

Don't worry what that says, if you do 10k or under in 12 months get it done every 12 months. Mine was messed up from the collection date, after the Audi main dealer did the 1st service I had to go back and get them to reset it, as it was still saying I needed a service! even after that it was all over the place with the dates and miles! Made me think that they didn't know what they were doing! So I just left it 12 months and then had it serviced again.

I had my 2nd service done on 3rd March this year at an Audi specialist, he sorted the mmi service screen out!!! My next service if I was keeping the car is due around 3rd March 2018, this is what it shows today:

Service

177 days from now is the 3rd March 2018

I was going to say the same. I had the dealer set it to fixed at my first annual service. It was supposed to be set on delivery, but wasn't. Variable is the default.
I never look at the info on the mmi. Just take it in every year.
I was keen to get it done annually as I have the 3 years servicing for £399 deal. That's a better bet if you go fixed anyway, cos I get 3 services for that.

That's a cracking price :)

Tom H. Your car is on fixed servicing.

So yearly Ken?

I was planning on having it done yearly TBH, as I say it's on 2693 and I've had it since March so definitely be under 10k!

Yes, annual (fixed) servicing Tom.

Yes. It wasn't a special deal or anything, it was an option in the brochure. I said that I would take it when I ordered. Audi had discontinued it in the new brochure by the time I took delivery, but the dealer honoured it.

About to have my 2 year inspection service on my FL S3 - been quoted £110 for inspection service or £230 if it needs oil change. That’s with family discount. Good deal? Surely the inspection service is more than just a tick box exercise?

I think it pretty much is a tick box exercise.

Only snag seems to be that you may not get the service entered into the Audi digital service record. I had a full service carried out by the VW main dealer I bought my car from, as part of the purchase deal. They claimed to have entered it into the Audi system, but Audi denied any knowledge of it when I asked for a printout. Fortunately I have the bill from the VW dealer to include in the paper-based service history I maintain...........

That’s the way to go in my opinion.

Going back on what I said, when I had the S3 I did go indy and I didn't sell it to Audi and I didn't have any problems selling it! I now have the A5 coupe and have just got back from the main dealership who have just done the first service!!! Why?

What I found out and shared a few weeks back:

I'm expecting to owe more than the car is worth after 3 years, so I want to be able to hand them the keys and walk away without any excuses, or extra payments from me! BUT if I were in a car out of warranty or knew I'd be selling it privately, I'd be going indy all the way :)

Even Audi can fail to update the digital service record, it seems.

My 67-plate is bugging me for an Oil and Inspection Service, having been bought in Sep-17 (brand new) and done approx. 18k miles........Getting quoted more-or-less £400 by various Audi dealers, close to home or office.......having ALREADY had an Oil Service (as requested by MMI in car) at the end of March this year (about 7 months ago, about 8 or 9k miles ago), at a cost (then) of ~£240

So.....one of the dealers (not one who serviced first time) said there is no record of the first service on VMS/their internal systems, and sent me a screenshot showing only 2 events - the car purchase and a warranty repair in December 17 (B&O Subwoofer went boing).......so, I get on to dealer who first serviced (and are amongst those quoting for this next service).....who say "Oooh, we will look into this"....

Not happy, obviously, so asked them if a) they actually did the service b) why they failed to make a record c) what else did the omit d) can they un-take the payment I made at the time for the event their system shows did not happen e) what sort of care and diligence to my vehicle/me does this exhibit.....and so on......they say "We have passed on to <insert random manager title here> to investigate"......I have tweeted (once I figured out how to tweet) Audi UK :)

So......even Audi cannot update a digital service record, perhaps

But didn’t they give you a receipt and paperwork when you collected the vehicle.
My dealer always gives the wadge of stuff to put in the service folder.
