Looks as though the new 3 series has borrowed heavily from audi

Looks much nicer than the old 3 series

Maybe audi could imitate the driving feel of the beemer in exchange to even things up a little....

Maybe they could even imitate BMW and build some cars for a change!

I have heard this mentioned quite often that BMW have a nicer driving feel than Audi.

I have to say as a driver of BMW cars for the last 6 years that this is not my experience. My 530i was like a boat and did not expire confidence going fast around corners. The M135i was fun to drive but again i had no confidence it in when the weather was wet and the traction lights would light up all the time on my commute to work - ( i have a nice mountain road to get to work)

the S4 is just as much fun as the M135 - it feels much better planted and it certainly gets me around the bends quicker and i have a bigger grin on my face driving the S4 than i did with the M135.

to me its all bout the grin factor

Bmw take on the virtual cockpit looks a bit naff the way the digital gauges follows the outline of the screen. Reminds me of an Astra GTE for some reason

I had a GTE16V mind you was nearly 20 years ago. Was a quick car of it’s time
@sunshinewelly
My ocd kicking in, bwm? Not sure if it’s a typo as you mentioned bwm a few times now

What BMW interior pictures are you referring to do you have any links?

Predictive text sorry. There is a window company near me called Bwm and my phone reverts to that as I have sent them messages a few months ago

This is how a virtual cockpit should look in my opinion rather than a graphical representation of a physical speedo. BMW are taking it what Audi have done and building on it.

By having the gauges following the exterior line of the screen it lets you have full size gauges and your map info at the same time. BMWs HUD is very good so coupled with that you’ll get everything you want. I like Audi’s and BMWs and an in no way biased towards any brand over the other but I think BMW have done a better job here.

I definately do not agree with your opinion, why do you think I spec'd the VC in the first place? However I doubt if you'll see me in a BMW anyway..

Maybe yours isn’t but with g-force, power and torque meters and red, yellow and red flashes when you change gear mine very much is Playstationesque but I like that. What’s the point in having a dynamic display if your just going to show traditional dials?

Anyway, we’re allowed to have different opinions, but don’t expect everyone to wade through your sig each time they interact with you!

I like cars, not just Audi’s so I’ll definitely be looking at the new BMW tech when I’m next due to change.

It is always easy to copy someone else's idea and then enhance than rather than being the Innovator, isn't it!

I don't want to come across as a BMW basher however, I hate (strong word here I know) BMWs and Mercs. Souless cars! The one thing I'll give it to Merc is their exhaust sound, even on the 43s. Kind of how Audi should sound as well. Apart from that I won't buy one even if they team up with Elon Musk and develop something really exciting!

Sorry but anyone who describes two of the biggest and well respected auto-makers on the planet's products as souless hasn't got a clue what they're talking about. BMW M3/M5, Merc AMG GT, C63, E63, BMW i8..... souless?

The one thing that I dislike about car forums is how "us and them" some people can be. Mercedes, BMW & Audi are all good car makers. All have their hits and their flops. Why people are so loyal to a particular brand baffles me. You get nothing in return for your troubles.

Relax mate. Looks like you are sat too close to the radiator. It ain't that freezing yet and it appears you need some extra cooling to keep your IATs down!

Cars are a very much a personal thing! A soul is more than just the engine, for me it is the whole package. Maybe I was wrong in using 'hate' as a word to describe my dislike towards BMWs and Mercs. For me, not only they lack soul but also the character. Simples!

Like for example, Nissan Juke, i8 and Fiat Impala are three of the most ugliest cars on this planet in the order I mentioned above. Having said that, people still buy them because they like them and not because I don't.

For me Audi A2 was also an ugly car and glad Audi decided to discontinue!

No doubt all of the above three including Japanese and other EU brands are all well respected all around the world. I am not a typical, 'us Vs them' kind of a guy. It is just that I never liked them.

I have driven driven varients and regs in 3 and 5 series including X3, X5 an M3 and an M5. I have also driven quite a few C and E class including GLE, GLC and E63. All these were friend's/family cars. With the exception of M3 and M5 I have done a lot of miles in all these cars and none of them excited me, at all. I just didn't like the interior let alone the exterior. I have personally accompanied most of them as and when we went to buy these cars either new or used and no matter what I did or how hard I tried they were simply not interested in buying an Audi just as I wouldn't the aforementioned.

If it was a case of 'us vs them' I would have put my found down against them everytime I would see them. However, with the exception of a C63 and an M4 I have never entertained anyone. I don't need to prove a point who is superior and who isn't. I bought an Audi because it has everything I want in a car!

And before I sign out, I must say that there are people who like Katie Price and Katie Hopkins too!

Comprehension, alongside cars it appears is also not your strongest point.

The bmw virtual cockpit looks as though its been designed by a 10 year old boy. I would take the audi one over that any day of the week.
