What have you done to your A3 (8p) this week

Painted wheel centres black. And from spoiler lip black. Not finished with it yet.

Y'know the splitter cover is literally just a cover only 2 screws holding it in place on the underside, much easier to paint off the car

No worries, was gonna mask mine off like you did but realized when I had the bumper off to replace the grille how easy it was to remove. Probably still a little bit of laying on the floor to get the screws out though lol T20 I think they are but maybe smaller, took a lot of screws out of the car that weekend

Thing having a I'd finished and took masking tape off I'd realised that I hadn't followed the contour or the lip. Which you don't notice so I've just to redo that not tomorrow .

Fitted Mintex 1144 front pads to my Yellow Speed Racing BBK (MDB1977M1144). This is the final piece in getting my car certified for New Zealand roads.

Fitted H11 resistors yesterday works perfect no errors. Also my mate has vcd. Modded fogs to come on when turning corners at night. Any idea how to do needle sweep on clocks ?

I have a set of s3 brushed aluminium door trims in better condition than yours. Not perfect but a lot better, without such deep scratches.. I want £100 for the set.

I won't sell one. Also, mine trims are different from yours: brushed aluminium vs dotted.

Replaced the center speaker with a pair of Audison Prima AP1 tweeters. Cover doesn't quite sit flush - need to work out what can be done.

Wasn't the case with mine, it was moulded into the bumper.
I took the entire bumper off and masked it up before spraying.

By any chance did you take a pic of the OEM speaker before you replaced it?
No pic of it in situ - but if you want a pic of the speaker itself then just search for Audi A3 8p dashboard speaker. I still have the speaker so can photo it if you wish?

It's true for the S/S-line bumper. The SE one is moulded as one piece without any separate splitter.

Didn’t even know there were speakers there! Does it make a difference?
Yes - very noticeable. The OEM speaker produces very little sound and maybe this is deliberate as you would interfere with stereo imaging. The reality is in a car given the odd seating pattern imaging is not going to be too much of an issue (purists would disagree). Anyway I’m getting a more ‘full’ sound in the drivers seat. The Audisons are quite smooth so I’d match very carefully as anything too harsh will be exaggerated. I have Audisons in the front doors as well.

Next mod puddle lights for my wing mirrors. I need a donor mirror if anyone has one even if it's just the shell.

So I can do a test run. Happy to travel not too far and pay for a mirror. Doesn't have to be exact. But size and shape would be better.

Replaced corroded rear door triangles.

A3 8PA Door Triangle Replaced

Than run Dyno test as I didn't do it at the time of remapping the ECU a year ago. I was surprised that my small 1.6 TDI could produce 150HP and 372Nmn :) Here's a video of two first test runs.

And the graph

The 034 Motorsport billet aluminium dogmount insert has been on for about three weeks now ... There is still some vibration once on the move 5-10mph and I did get a little in reverse tho that seems to have gone now. Let’s see in another 3 weeks.

Have done SFA to mine not even driven it for a week cause Jack got my steering wheel , chatted to mate in NZ to see how he's enjoying the driving off his S3.
Thats it Folks

Checked my timing chain tensioner wear using the method from this video:

Great video and 1° KW (I guess clockwise?) is a very happy result. One less thing to worry about.

For those with a vagcom, video summary:

Go to Engine, Block 93 Read 'inlet camshaft phase angle' under 4° good 4 - 5° risky >5° replace.

From my understanding this measures the long term correction added to the cam phase. More correction = more wear.

Also fixed the seatbelt warning whilst I had the vagcom linked :)

Dropped her off to the local garage for cam belt, water pump and fuel filter cos I can’t be ***** with the hassle of doing it myself.

Just the rear BCS to arrive and be fitted before booking into RTech for a tune, happy days

You can’t leave us hanging there, any details on the retrofit part nos, guide, etc???

Can this be used for active cruise control??

Nice mod

HAHA Sorry,

The kit I purchased consisted of an Audi TT interior mirror with the forward facing cmos sensor and a wiring harness. Unfortunately you cannot use it for adaptive cruise. Here is the kit I bought as its hard to find a mirror at a decent price. The mirror in this kit is also brand new and a genuine part.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-A3-...h=item3d3e78da21:g:TvUAAOSw9RdbDjjJ:rk:1:pf:0

The kit came with new wiring harness with a new 8 pin connector to the new mirror. All you have to do is wire the CAN + and the CAN - into the CAN Gateway. As for the other end at the mirror you use the new 8 pin connector and swap your other 4 wires to it from your old 6 pin connector. Code in using VCDS and job done.

I will be doing a full write up soon and including all pictures and video in the retrofit section. This was just short and sweet for you.

Thanks for the heads up, look forward to more info. Looks like you need the auto dimming/rain sensor stuff fitted before to work, mine never hand that but all the other upgrades, never really worked that out
