Nah, not got the right bumper or flared arches to have it so...

Bit chavie...
You'd probably prefer my mk1 escort 1974 lombard from the late 80s.
Sold it for £500.
Hindsight and all that.

I'm also not a fan of the badges but that Mk1 escort is ace.
I've always had a soft spot for Cortina mk2
Escort went along time a go.
Its a fast if not faster than an rs4 so why not the badges
As I said before..
Each to there own.
I know you get alot of true enthusiasts on here.
But I like them.
My dad had the cortina mk1 e

Its more of an aesthetic look.
I keep all the original parts.
Grill, exhaust badges etc..
Just need another 25k for the b8 rs4..

Anyhow I wouldn't swap the 3l v6 for any engine.

And it does 30mpg.
Best of both worlds!

Welcome to the "i can loose my licence quicker than i can count to 10 club"

I used to get 30mpg too but since i stoped using it as my daily driver i dont dare look at the mpg's anymore:hopelessness:

Its fun tho !

Bit rude mate..
He just passed
But it was a 1600e I'm prerry sure.
And it was around 1976....
I'm sorry to learn you've just lost your dad. Certainly I wasn't trying to be rude; just aiming to have some light-hearted fun, not knowing the circumstances.

No worries.
We also had a mk3 cortina
That was just a big old banger but I loved it!
Dark blue with big pvc seats....

Back in 1976 we had a neighbour that had a MK2 1600E, took it to Blackpool for a day trip, it disappeared as lots of them did back then! I went to look at a MK1 Escort 1300E once to replace my Escort van (young newly married couple's collection/delivery transport), unfortunately at that time the prices were rising and a MK Escort Ghia 1600 offered a lot more for similar money, so I grabbed one of them.

Haha..
I liked my dads mk2 cortina and in a way I liked the mk3 although it was a lump!
But in the late 80s i bought an old 1974 Lombard rac mk1 escort..
Loved it
Sold it for £500!!..
I would love it back now

Poor MK1 Escorts, still plenty out there getting thrashed through forest tracks and places like Rally Design selling parts for them!

Happy days while I had it though...

Maybe when all the kids have fled the nest I'll go looking for it!
