So, I have a 1.8tfsi and want a tiny bit more sound and ive seen/read that a downpipe would do that however im wondering if it would require a map?

As starry said, will need a remap

Why not take out one of the silencers instead?

I believe It’s to do with back pressure, without a map your turbo will over spool.

I was looking for something more bolt on rather than welding, so I could easily change back to stock in the future

On my S3 I cut the resonator out and replaced it with a length of pipe, if you wish to reinstate it then it just clamps back in place. This is what I did.

I would have to cut my exhaust though, right? also how would I reinstall the resonator without welding, clamps sound like they could cause leaks.

Btw I have no clue about exhausts and resonators so sorry if I sound dumb lol.

The below images from @BCS Nige might help you. These are for the S3 mind you, but I guess it would be the same idea ... (I have no clue about these things either ;) )

Im not sure how the 1.8 exhaust is laid out but on the s3 when you buy the resonator delete it comes with clamps that will allow you to reinstall the res. Worst case though is you can get a exhaust place to refit it, cost would be minimal.

Ah, all I can seem to find is 8V S3 deletes, would they fit on a 1.8 tfsi exhaust do you know?
