Vmax200 with an RS3

My Revo stg 1 FL 191MPH(307kmh) and could do more just not enough space

I've had further clarification regarding the speed limiter on pre-facelift RS3 with a Revo stage 1.
I emailed the company that did the Revo remap and asked them if they knew if the speed limiter was enabled.
They contacted Revo engineering department directly and they confirmed that the speed limiter had been removed with the latest version of the remap, which was installed on my car.

Pre facelift standard car and had a decent bit more to give as still pulling

With a map I’d say you would be seeing well into the 180 on the clock with a preface lift car

I managed to get 164 with the vbox not sure what it was on the clock.

I really enjoyed Vmax200 event. I was well organised and had a decent turnout with some very impressive cars.
Jaguar Land Rover had some cars running as promotion of their SVO and SVR sub-brands.
It was nice to get the opportunity to see what the RS3 could do which would can't be done on the road.

After my first run my low brake pads warning light came on so I was a little concerned about doing too many runs.
Especially when a few ended up in the bails of hey including a very sorry looking Jaguar F type with a broken front.

But I did get some decent runs in and managed to drive 200 miles home without any problems.

I would really recommend this event just to experience what a car do in safety.

Here are my PerformanceBox Figures for a vmax run of 172.09 .

10 mph 0.51 seconds
20 mph 0.99 seconds
30 mph 1.49 seconds
40 mph 2.14 seconds
50 mph 2.89 seconds
60 mph 3.82 seconds
70 mph 4.85 seconds
80 mph 6.08 seconds
90 mph 7.5 seconds
100 mph 9.14 seconds
110 mph 11.11 seconds
120 mph 13.33 seconds
130 mph 15.99 seconds
140 mph 19.24 seconds
150 mph 23.15 seconds
160 mph 28.45 seconds
170 mph 35.72 seconds

And this is the video of the run

Looks like fun and some nice times, but holy hell that RS7 was just getting smaller and smaller lol.

Thanks I was happy with my speed seeing it was my first event so was a bit unsure how it would go.
The two RS7s that were at the event both did over 190mph.
The M3 that I also against only started to catch me at 80mph and finally over took me at 120mph and vmax at 180mph.

Did you get insurance and presumably if you remove the limiter it invalids the warranty

No I ricked not having insurance. If it was a track day then I would have as there is multiple people on the track and I don't fancy doing that.
A few people didn't break in time so they had big repair bills.
Hope the ones that blew their motors didn't have to drive them home. There were a few AA trucks there by the end of the day.

It's a REVO stage 1 tune so it probably invalidates the engine warranty if there is any claim.

Surprised your times weren't a bit better having a stage 1 tune. Full of fuel, hot day etc?

Yes I filled it up as the nearest Shell Garage was 20 miles away. I used up 28 liter on the day doing 80 miles (14.27 mpg) including the commute there and back to the garage. Comparing that to my compute home which was 195 miles that took 27.55 liters (32.24 mpg).
So didn't really want to risk running out of fuel.

My numbers is a little bit off what Revo quoted on their website 0 - 60 mph 3.55 compared with 3.82 and 0 - 100 mph 8.37 compared with 9.14.
It felt like was a warm day compared with a chilly start.

Doesn't sound too bad then. Did you have a passenger? 170+ must have felt good.

It was just me in the car. I did ask around but nobody was too keen for me to drive them at stupid speeds.

Above 150 mph does feels different.
One thing I noticed is when braking from high speed at the end of the runway and thinking that I'm going really slow to make the turn back.
Then realising that I'm still doing 90 mph. :scared2:

I would not like to try to get anywhere near those speeds on a public road even legally on the autobahn.

I used to go to Marham in my tuned Impreza years back and got a GPS 158mph before the car stopped accelerating. Felt totally mad and agreed you don't really want to be doing that sort of speed on a m/way etc.

Just noticed the PFLs 'only' have 180 on the speedo.

Obvioulsy Audi thought the new FLs would go faster since they have 200mph on the speedo !!

Well that M4 wasn’t stock!

I'm guessing the standard M4 would still be close if not beat the RS3.

The list of cars that beat me:-
Audi RS7 *2
McLaren 12c
BMW M3
BMW M4
Porsche 911 Turbo

But did win against a Maserati Coupé.

Sorry am I wrong in thinking your car is mapped?

Ah, I've opened my eyes now!! Its a PFL - sorry I see now. My bad, still good numbers. Sorry fella.

Is there that big a difference in performance between the PFL and FL car at those speeds?
I was speaking to a guy at the event that tuned RS3s and he said the the small intercooler would be my issue at high speed during the run.

I'm really surprised a boggo M4 reeled you in and gapped you from 80mph (comp or not), however i've no real experience with Pre-Facelifts if I'm honest. My FL is mapped and running just north of 470bhp with 490ft.lbs of torque (664NM). Thats compared to 444bhp and 550NM on an M3 Comp, so I'm well up over 100NM on one. I've despatched my mate many a time and with a launch like RS3's do, it's got no chance.

I guess the bigger turbo on an FL really helps deliver the figures. Regarding the intercooler, yes heat soak would be an issue with multiple runs I guess, how much of a factor remains to be seen.

My car constantly surprises me I have to say. I nipped out in it today and overtook on an A Road, I was deep into naughty numbers before I got past what I was overtaking, mid range is seriously brutal. I can 'safely' go for gaps that I wouldn't dream of taking in anything i've ever driven before, that includes a 991.2 GT3RS.

I'd be very interested to see what the differences are between a Stage 1 PFL and Stage 1 FL on road performance.

The M4 in the video was from Unicorn Motor (https://www.unicornmotordevelopments.com/) and it was their Developments Stage 1 M4. Don't know the power numbers but other Stage 1 M4s quote around 500hp.
In the video comments they say the tune was not designed for 0-60 sprints but did achieve 4.2sec without launch control.

Hence my 'cant be a boggo M4' post. You still did very well then, goes to show how blistering all RS3's are off the line. I wouldn't want 500hp in an M3 or M4. They aren't drivable most of the time anyway! I was out in my friend's Sunday/Yesterday, totally not confident in it and it stepped out as soon as we leant on it. Easy to get used to, but a real compromise.

The official results are out and was really surprised that 2 RS3s got almost identical results of 0-60 3.87/3.88 and 0-100 9.22/9.47
with a vmax run of 172.19/171.19

S1 face-lift is about 480hp vs same PFL at 420 ish so a reasonable amount more.

I'm itching to get a 0-60 out of mine - I reckon it would be up with the RS6's and GTR's. 0-100 would be interesting.

As a rough guide Revo stage 1 quote 3.55 sec to 60 and 7.46 sec to 100 on 470hp FL models .
The surface is poor on the runway so it wont be great place to have low sprint numbers.

The guy who was 17th in his McLaren 720s must have left his handbrake on.
