Then allow me to join you in that regard. Looked at my car this morning and this was the case. Anyone have any idea how much this is likely to financially ruin me by?

Ouch. It's definitely a new lower bumper. Respray needed. Also the gloss black trim.

Honestly, through Audi you could be looking at anything...£1000+ wouldn't surprise me.

Finding a specialist and spare parts etc, maybe £300-500?

I honestly have no idea. Every time I park it, I do a walkaround of the car. Looked this morning and it was like that. Pretty gutted to be honest. :concern:

No chance would that have happened without you noticing, must have been hit when parked.

I don’t think the bumper will split, so that looks like a complete bumper :( A painter could perhaps repair it, but the quality perhaps wouldn’t be the best and might not be as strong in future.

Really sorry to see it, sad sight.

Come on, Matt. That's not been hot by another car. Look closer. It's caught something but I'm not sure what. The black that's been scraped on suggests it wasn't a kerb so I'm at a loss to what. But I don't think a car has hit you.

It’s difficult to say, it’s the scraping across the bottom that made think it was something passing, but just noticed the yellow paint to the left of the gouge on the black air blade.

I just struggle to believe that somebody could cause that level of damage and not know about it  It’s odd because it’s not just on the outside edge but has also scuffed the top of the air blade below the small grill.

@BadBoyWhiteRaps the more I look the more damage I see! Is the side of the bumper split? Can see what looks to be that and the lack of alignment to the vertical part of the air blade gives that idea too. The yellow makes it seem like a post....

There's damage further up....look at the headlamp washer and under it also......

How could you scrape across the front of the car like that and not realise/hear/have the front parking sensors scream their tits off though ?

Woah, I wasn't posting here to try and convince people I don't know of something that happened. If I had hit something I'd just say so, or not bother posting at all.

All I can say is I have absolutely not knowledge of how it happened, I just saw it in the morning, so my assumption is someone drove into me. It's very noticeable and I usually do a little walkaround of the car before/after driving.

If you think I did it, fair enough, but what I've told you above is the absolute truth. Makes no difference at the end of the day because it's coming out of my pocket. I just wondered if anyone had had to replace a bumper on one of these and had a price estimate for me to cry over.

Must admit I didn't see the damage further up. Still a very curious incident as I can't see how another car would cause damage so low down. I suppose another car could have driven into it front on if it also had a low front bumper and splitter?

Yeah, it's split.

Some prices

Not gospel but pretty close I’ve found.

Last picture is called a closing element and I’m not sure if you require it but if it’s damaged underneath then maybe.

You’d need to double check part numbers against your Reg number as there are Saloon/sport back numbers.
Price is same between either though.

T-800, massive thanks for that (I think). Where did you get those details from? Would that be the cost straight from Audi?

So about £1500 in parts alone. Add in the cost of spraying (since it says primed) and fitting and I'm probably looking at £2,000+. :puke2:

Seeing the yellow paint only thing I can think of is maybe a yellow painted wall that I've clipped, but I truly don't remember it happening at all. The reason I think wall is because it hasn't cracked the bumper but sheared it off, which to me implies a sharp edge.

P.s. sorry for being touchy earlier, emotions are running high.

It's looking like an insurance job. You would surely have felt it so I'm guessing someone has hit your car while parked.

From Etka, official parts database.

You may get the parts slightly cheaper from the forum sponsor on here.

Not cheap but the alternative is to get everything filled / smoothed then painted, but it could look bodged if not done to a high standard, assuming the plastic isn’t cracked somewhere.

If it’s not done exactly as the ‘good’ side then you’ll always be noticing it.

My thoughts to be honest. I have a £1,000 excess, so even if it's £2,000 it's probably not an insurance job because I'll lose my no claims and be suffering that for ages. My insurance is already £2,000 for the year. I have some other pictures I'll attach for those with a morbid curiosity.

I've attached a few more. The actual black honeycomb is split off at the bottom (which doesn't really upset me that much and, by itself, would be largely ignored).

Trying to take it like a champ but I'm pretty gutted to be honest. To get your dream car and then have this a few months down the line... :crying:

Is part 6 included with the front bumper in total, as that is scratched? I also don't think I need part 52 since that's actually not damaged at all, but do need part 54. Is there any chance you could dig those out for me? I'd really appreciate it.

Just let your insurance company deal with it that's what you pay for..

As I said though, even at £2,000, I'll be paying £1,000 of it because of my excess and then my insurance will shoot up because I'll lose all my no claims (all three years of them, lol). Looking at go compare my insurance would go up by well over a thousand pounds just in the first year alone, so it's not really economically viable for me to do that if I want to keep the car (which I definitely do).

Do not let your insurance know about it if you do fix it yourself as it will be on your record

Not a chance! I've got a little motorbike that I haven't ridden for a couple of years so that'll probably go to cover most of the cost.

Sounds like you have a car you cannot really afford

I can afford the car fine. I only took 6,500 on finance, which I would say is better than most people. Being able to afford the car and being financially savvy enough to think a couple of years in advance are different things, no? If sorting it myself is cheaper than going via insurance, how does that reflect on my financial circumstances as opposed to my forward thinking?

Maybe afford is the wrong word, but I could not have the worry of the financial impact of driving the car and having a bump like you have possibility costing me thousands of pounds, it would take some of the fun away, hope you find a solution that works out :)

I would think the damage is definitely 100 % repairable by a good bodyshop at certainly less than replacement bumper parts. Would think it would be a 2 day job @ £500.

Only a suggestion would to get a quote such as below link as examples.

Would avoids chip + dent -come to your house - companies as they are fine and well for small repairs but I would think the bumper will have to be removed ( cheaper to prep for spraying )

Plastic welding / repairs have come a long way in these years as more cars are fitted with complicated structures.

Totally understand what you're saying. Little more than a bump, I fear. But who here wouldn't be worried about a potential £2,000+ damage to their RS3? Even if I earned twice as much as I do, it'd still bother me!

Thanks, I'll have a look at these. Since it's my baby, it needs to be perfect though!

Babies fall and cut their legs - they still grow up to be models with perfect skin - think you'd be surprised at the reaction of a body shop if you asked to replace the whole front bumper sections.

Know how you feel as every time you see the car your eyes are drawn to the damage.

The bumper black or Matt aluminium pack bumper inserts are £138 each at Audi for parts only. I know because I asked as I have a deep scratch on one.

Steve, you mean the part on the side housing the air intakes? Cheers for that!
It’s the black or silver bit to the left or right bottom, part of the Matt black or gloss black packs. It’s £138 each side. Not cheap but too horrific given how expensive some parts are.

Bit annoying those Matt alu parts as you can’t ppf them or polish them

Not really any different to a mortgaged house, we all have home insurance, Yet if something goes wrong and will cost say £1000 but you have a £500 excess as most do, you would just pay it and not tell the insurance because you would suffer rises over the years that far outweigh the difference, does it mean you should sell the house as you cannot afford it? In my mind all it means is insurance is an absolute scam. But then we all already know that.

Like everyone else though, I hope the OP get's it sorted asap without to much wallet damage, absolutely gutting :(

£1,000 excess is insane. Why would you ever chose such a high excess? You know you can get excess insurance so your covered for your excess.

Noooo surely £1977 all together :wtf:

Am I reading that wrong...£1200+£1900?!

£1977 altogether! The second sheet is just a breakdown of parts to make it clearer for the customer, I think.

Nowt cheap these days.

But at least the car will be back to A1 condition.

Maybe worth getting a few other quotes from well rated body shops ?

I see what you're saying, but actually when you look at the cost of the parts, which almost perfectly matches up with the catalogue pictures you sent, it doesn't seem like too bad of a deal. About £280 for labour and 180 for paint? That's all I'd be likely to get a (small) discount on elsewhere. Plus this place was recommended by my local audi dealership.
