Hi guys, just recently purchased a 2013 A4, with the lovely bang and olufsen speakers. I've connected my phone via bluetooth but cant seem to play music via it, any ideas? Do i need to buy something to plug into the glovebox? Any help would be much appreciated.

Ideally id like to stream music from my phone Note 4.

Isn't there an Ami socket/interface in the glovebox already?

Hi there, only a cigarette socket in the glovebox.

there appears to be some sort of interface thingy in the glovebox.

I've also got a note 4 and it doesn't stream to the car via Bluetooth. I looked at getting the lead to plug in glove box for a USB stick, but it's far cheaper and easier to get a SD card adaptor them use mini SD card in the slot in the stereo. Works perfectly on mine.

That "interface thing" looks to be the Audi Music Interface (AMI) that @NHN was referring to. Click here for details

Is it not the case that the facelift Bluetooth now has A2DP built into it so streaming via bluetooth shouldn't be an issue?!

I think it depends on the vintage of the MMI system that you have.

If you have 2G/3G basic then you can't stream via Bluetooth. There might be a hidden software tweak that you can turn it on with - the VCDS experts on here might know???

Pretty sure MMI 3G+ and higher can do it. I'm sure someone will come along and correct me!

Pretty sure Audi rationalised the entertainment options from 2012 onwards and now only offer non sat nav Chorus/Concert/Symphony and the 3g+ system with 2 options only (with sim or without sim for Audi connect) and there is no longer any options for 2G/3G basic.

Regardless of the above options all those that come with Bluetooth prep include A2DP streaming over bluetooth.

Experts - please do correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks if that's the case I'll have a little fiddle to see if it's in a menu or something

Tried with my 2013 a4 via my Note 4 (which supports Bluetooth music streaming) and it didn't work. Once connected even checked gear cog in Bluetooth settings next to car connection. No joy.

Which entertainment system do you have? and is it the facelift? (should have the piano black inlays and the chrome touches)

ok well I stand corrected, according to the manual at the link below, audio streaming is only available with the 3G+ navigation system, with the Concert system there was only an option to add Bluetooth prep that only gives you access to calls over the Concert system.

If you have an AMI in the glove box you can use an adapter called Tune2Air and use bluetooth streaming via the AMI link.

Looked at that myself but I'm happy with DAB.

I've got a nice solution which is close to release by the manufacturer, who I've been working with. It converts the MMI to touch screen and has BT,Android, Cameras, HDMI, etc, etc.

The whole package includes parking cameras etc, It will not exactly be cheap but if this of interest feel free to PM me for more info..

Once I get the kit I'll be putting a detailed post up on it and then hopefully be developing some bespoke B8 apps for it too, the app side is theory at present until I get it in my hands and start developing for it when time allows though ;)

Yeah that's the ami socket, you need the ami cable to convert to usb, etc or the tne2air ami cable or use the integrated bt streaming option.

I see on your photo looks like you got AMI port, you can check and try this BT adapter viseeo tune2air WMA3000A from viseeousa.com. Just plug it straight into your cars AMI and you can stream, control, read and display music on the iPod library on your phone.

What if there was a way to completely bypass symphonys, concerts, MMI2/3G Highs & Lows, etc and (almost) instantly upgrade your B8 to a B9:

I've been following Daniel's progress for some time and what he has achieved almost single handedly is nothing short of exceptional... Have a look...

Link doesn't seem to work.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I'm thinking of buying a B8.5. Love the Black Edition but so many cheapskates seem to have bought them as most of them seem to only have Concert (tbh it sucks that it was even an option as the Technik was lower in the range and yet had Multimedia as standard).

Most of the pics in this thread don't work, so I can't see the settings screen OP is referring to, but did all the B8.5 (i.e. 2012+) come with the ability to stream over Bluetooth. It's pretty important for me, as having to plug into the AUX is a faff.

If you can stream via BT on Concert then that's fine for me, as I'm not bothered about having an out-of-date nav system. Concert also comes with an SD card slot doesn't it, and AMI is standard on the 8.5 too right?

I believe you need 3G+ to be able to stream music over bluetooth even on 2012 cars

For my 2013 A4 B8.5 with Concert stereo without AMI, I bought a bluetooth device which connects behind the stereo.
It works great. With this I can stream bt audio from spotify and the song titles is visible on the screen and songs can be changed with the car buttons.
This solution was a bit cheaper than installing AMI+tune2air.

I think you're right about this, pretty stingy on the part of Audi. What still baffles me is the number people who ordered the Black Edition/S-Line and cheaped out on the MMI.

That's very interesting, what device did you get? I've seen devices which plug into the AMI, but Tune2Air doesn't display track names on screen etc.

I bought this one:

https://www.eftermontering.se/musik-interface/745-bluetooth-concert-rns-e.html

It's an Audi approved retrofit seller/installer here in Sweden. This thing needed the same coding as the AMI to get all the button and display functions working properly.
Easy install, and you should also be able to connect the AUX from the armrest to it, but I have not got the time to test this yet.
The best thing about it is when i start the car it remembers the last state.

This discussion has been really useful, thanks folks. From the looks of it it's either an expensive retrofit/upgrade (300EUR + coding) or just getting a car with something better than Concert to begin with. I think I'll go with the latter. I'd rather pay a bit more for a car with Multimedia MMI as standard.
