Hi Guys,

I'm getting an ex-demo 2013 A7 TFSI at the end of the month. It has most of the goodies with one exception. No reversing camera, although it does have the PDC sensors and MMI Graphic. Audi option codes list QK1 & 7X2 there is no rear camera fitted. So I'm assuming QX1 refers to the radar distance sensors for the adaptive cruise?

My current C6 A6 has the reversing camera fitted, so I'm used to the convenience and added security of having it when reversing. With the more restricted view out the A7 Sportsback, I'd like to get a cam fitted to it.

I've seen the Kufatec retrofit kits - using OEM parts by the looks of it. Just wondered if anyone has done this mod, specifically for the A7 and whether it was a relatively straight forward installation. I have VCDS so coding not too much of an issue, however will it need component protection unlocked by the dealer?

if anyone has retrofitted the camera, can they share the parts list?

I know Nigel is the Retro King, not sure he's tackled this one though...

I've fitted one to an A6 and A8, but the A8 did require a boot trim which had to be painted. If you have access to etka and elsawin then you could buy the individual parts, and you then could buy just the harness from kufatec. If you just want a east life then just buy the full kit from kufatec they usually come with good instructions.

I've added one to my A7, not finished the wiring yet, got the cam and controller off of ebay and the loom from KUFATEC, it's fun fitting the camera, small spaces to loose nuts in but not too bad, instructions from KUFATEC good but not totally up to date.

Will let you know if it works well when I finish it ;)

Did u ever get this working? Just wondering if it needs a dealer visit for some unlocking or can it simply be activated in vcds? Not exactly on friend terms with my local dealer.

Mine works well and no dealer visit needed, not done calibration yes though.

Now I just need to work out if this will work on my 2011 I'm not entirely sure which mmi I have, I don't have the touch pad or the online services such as Google maps. I might just drop the company that sells them an email, I'm sure they'll have an idea
 
Kufatec can tell you, will take them a day or two to respond, then either find the parts yourself (ebay.de) and get the loom from them or get a kit.

Camera controller is not subject to content protection so vcds is all thats needed to code it.

Have a look here.

There are a couple of eBay suppliers that will do the full supply & install for around the £650 mark, which is quite a good deal.
Also a few forum members who do after market work, may be worth shouting out to them, depending on where your based.
 
May be worth giving these guys a shout.

I’m not sure if they are installing 100% OEM, but for the price worth an ask...
 
If its a 2015+ its literally swapping the boot handle for the one with a camera in, running a Fakra cable to the front and coding. The cables can be bought as a kit from Kufatec or K-Electric (usually cheaper) and they will usually send instructions too. You will find the original OEM used camera handles all over eBay and I can help with the part numbers if needed, will need to know the year of the car though :)

I have a audi a6 4f 2008 I've just got hold of the camera kit for mine and Installed it and changed the mmi interface to a fbas module but can't get it to work,, I don't have parking sensors could this be my problem any help would be great here is my fault code aswell..

This is what k-electronic's website says:

It is also possible to install it on your AUDI A7 4G WITHOUT existing parking aid (PDC sensors) or MIT park steering assistant.
  • Only for models with RMC Multimedia System (1-6 station buttons without touch input field) without factory fitted parking aid (PDC = sensors) you also need to activate the menu item "parking aid" in the CAR menu Codierdongle with Article No .: 72015
    • All other models, eg with MMI3G navigation with touch input or all models with built-in parking assistance do not need a coderdongle for the final activation.
 
Sorry, that was for 4G not 4F, I can't find anything on k-electronic or kufatec for a 2008 :(

No problem thankyou anyway. It's just totally baffling me when I read the cam status it says deactive after calibrating. Guessing u need the pdc for it to work properly
 
If it helps I have added some extra pdc' s to my 2017 S5 (for self parking) and it's not that daunting putting extra holes in the bumper with a pdc punch and the punchs are less than £20 on eBay.
 
Well I've got a kit that I'm ordering which I a retrofit for the rear which comes with module that supports visual and camera so hopefully this will solve my issue.
 
Hi guys can you just clear so.ething up for me please Basically I have been told that when I go ahead and install the retrofit kit for rear pdc with graphic and visual I need to send of my mmi unit to Germany to be recoded does that sound right as I haven't heard anything of this so far

Thats really not neccessary.

Buy the pdc module that supports graphic display AND rear view camera. Connect everything and code it. Nothing else...

Quick question guys I'm getting the f version which supports graphic and camera and rear sensors. What is the the middle connector for. The left is for power canbus and buzzer... Right is for sensors but what the hell is the middle one for please guys..
 
I have already retrofitted the camera and module but obviously need to have parking sensors for the camera to work So was just woundering what the middle connector is actually for and how that works

Hi thanks for the post I already know that my f version When I receive it will support the graphic and camera but just stumbled on what the middle connector block is for on the pdc module as the right one is for sensors and left is canbus power and so on..

Not all the connector blocks are used.

I have mmi 2g it's on a audi a6 4f but this is the only forum section I could find and ask about stuff like this
