B8 Sepang B8 RS4 Owners Thread

Oh they still for sale? Seen their post on here but it seemed to vanish. Yeah I totally get what your saying with the filters. Every 60k they're meant to be replaced. That's mad! Think I'll go get these stock ones then. Great price. Mine must be flipping filthy!

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Mine were replaced at about 20k and I will do them again at 40k.
I think if you get Audi to do change them it is about £150 plus?
On their eBay add you can submit a best offer.

Yeah just made an offer. Cheers for that. 60k miles man. Still can't believe it haha. I think I'm gonna notice a difference with replacing these. The job seems pretty simple. Got the torx screw kit so should be a doddle. As long as I don't lose one in the engine bay!

Looking into the whole improvement by changing the filters question. Cold air intake appears to be one of the ways to genuinely improve hp and torque. An ECU tune is always your easiest method but NA Engine...yeah. Haha.

Eventuri system looks pretty darn solid. Well researched and built by looks of it. Down the line I'll be interested. Think, in order of tasteful and useful:

1. MTM Exhaust
2. Lighter Wheels/better rubber
3. Eventuri intake
4. Stage 1 ECU

I don't track my cars so the stock brakes are fine as long as I maintain them properly. Perhaps better lines/fluids though. I don't think spending a fortune on alloys is good idea considering they'll undoubtedly get curbed haha. But I think some semi decent wheels could really shed some mass and make it more nimble. Same with exhaust.

Stock systems are just crazy heavy. My stock system looks like a pig Also add some power gains there too. Modest but it all adds up. Anyway, just my ramblings on ideas. But we're talking over 2-3 years here. No rush. Priority will always be timely and proper maintenance

Sounds like a good plan/priority order to me . Planning any winter tyres?

Ahhhh yes. 20" winters are pushing the boundaries of useful but this year I'll have to. Can't afford another set of wheels yet. Gonna try the TOYO's. they've got very good reviews over a long period on Openeo.

Prices are slowly going up so I'll get some next month.

Found this in my boot. Don't know how I missed it on collection.

b3765f7da76203ecca69d4ae1a18eaa9.jpeg

I'm a little unnerved. The spec and approval doesn't seem to be for anything like my engine I do hope they haven't put this in. Or is there something I'm missing? Thought it was supposed to be VW 502 on a fixed schedule? And using shell helix 0W-30/40? Or at least a Castrol 5W-30? I've asked the pre collection service invoice as it wasn't to hand at time of pick up as it was pushed through quick.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Further to last post, found out 0W-20 is for extreme cold environments. At high temperatures, it's going to be very thin. Too thin. This giving very poor lubrication! They better not have put this in.

I wouldn't rule it out mate. Expect these mini fokups from Audi . And if you ask they will give you a bonkers reason as to why it is 'necessary'

Oh I've had my fair share already mate over the years. This is mad though. A high revving V8 that's going to be creating high temps frequently? Wow...not like I'm gonna be cold starting in Alaska!

Don't get me wrong, I welcome less wear on a cold start but at high temps this stuff is gonna be too thin I think. Next oil change in 8k miles.

Any idea how much RS4 20" wheels weigh?

Been a fan of these for a while now. Wize1972 had them on his Nardo S5. Really nice OEM look IMO. But just curious to know the weight difference from stock.

So!

Turns out I've got myself some K&N filters! Very 'honking' filters mind you but with a clean and oil top up, a bit of a boon if I want them

Let's see how a potential 'drop (?)' in performance feels with the more restrictive filters. I'd say a carbon clean could be coming up in next 10k miles. Need to get it on a dyno. ADS Automotive look pretty decent. Anyone had any experience out in Preston?

Unit20 another option obviously.

Finally got the pre collection service invoice through but I've had to ask for more clarification on the engine oil used.

Here is a snippet and hopefully you guys have heard of the Audi order/part/contract number. I'll ask on RS246 too. Cheers guys.

86a4cf6a4244eff12682109be9c70271.png

'NAS60' line for reference. Doesn't state what grade it is. 20/30/40/60 etc. Was pretty much the main piece of information that I was after .

Mobil recommends the 30 but says 40 is an alternative and I don't want to top up with wrong oil. Really don't know why they didn't use Castrol or Shell. Thought they were the Audi contracts.

@creweaudiparts ?

I think the Mobil is the oil some Audi centres use in their bulk oil tank. It works out quite cost effective for them. I supply my own oil when I get it serviced, much cheaper and I know what they are putting in.
I think from memory their oil was about £150 for the 9.5 litres.

Absolutely, I'll be supplying my own oil for next oil change but I'll be needing to top up in the not too distant future. Obviously I'll need to buy a litre of this Mobil but need to know which grade. Grrrrrr.

Decent price from EuroCar Parts. Well sealed and packaged. I'll be cleaning far more regularly than the previous owner haha. Unless he drove through a gigantic swarm of bees and flies, I'd say it'd been a while since last clean of any clean

Also bought a vehicle theft deterrent device (not gonna say which one on a public forum). Just too many instances are being reported of this stuff. Winds me up.

Ha! It's 'Aubergine' No, it's purple. There's a theme in this house...yeah, I had to clean these filters twice. Lots of banging out. Stuff just kept falling out. Some remnants left and now they're dry it should just bang out. Pop them back in today.

Should be interesting to see how clean K&N compares to brand new OEM. Will report back. But detailing tomorrow and Saturday so that will bring some gratuitous images at the weekend

I've got 5L of Bilt Hamner (?) that I got for last car. Might as well use that. I've checked out the Gyeon products and I'll be getting them. Just like how they're labelled/categorised. Iron fallout, bathe and some Cure I think. Use that cure every 2-3 months so as a top up.

Need a decent drying towel too.

Hi all.

Memory seats has appeared to stop functioning. Any way to reset?

The 'off' button lights up but the 'set' button won't light up. No audible beep etc. Cheers.

Cheers bud! You still loving yours? Power delivery is just different to anything I've ever had. It feels so alive and violent above 6k rpm. I kinda like the dual character of it.

I still say an aftermarket exhaust will be bought just to make it a bit more of an event at lower speeds but can't get enough of it. Brakes are pretty decent too.

Yea I’m still enjoying bud, when I get the chance to mind.
Was down in London Mayfair, knightsbridge with it over the weekend there and it Defo gets attention when it was parked up.
The power delivery is mental, it kicks you back in the seat especially when your the passenger ha.
I’m starting to enjoy it now, even more so after the weekend there, got a road trip to Loch Lomond this weekend coming so that’ll be eventful.
What miles you getting to a full tank with normal ish driving!!!

That'll be a mega drive that. I'm off up to Mull way at Christmas. Need the winter shoes on then. If I drive chilled with "a redline a day to keep the carbon away", I reckon 300 mile range. I fill up earlier than previous cars haha. But the trip computer says 320mile range. If I had long motorway runs, I'd get 350+ easy.

But, once you plant your foot, that's it. Average 250 miles and can easily go down to 200 if you blast the whole tank.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yea I’m looking forward to the drive up there, once you get by Preston then it’s a great road till you hit Dumfries.
If I get 300 to a tank I’d be shocked ha.
Still haven’t redlined it yet, still got a few things I’d like to get done to it, one being detailed, and then the aftermarket exhaust.

Got it trackerd and ghost fitted couple of weeks ago, which to me was the main things to be done to it.
I fancy akaprovik for the exhaust but it’s a lot of dosh, I’ve already got the sports exhaust as standard so in no rush for it.
It’s a killer on the fuel mind.

Haha. Try not to think of it. Honestly, get it up to the limiter! It's the point of having the car. Just watch tardy gear changes, especially in second. It'll bounce off limiter. It'll help the engine breathe too and just aide as an extra tool in the bag against carbon build up. I reckon I'll need a carbon clean within next 12 months but going to get it on a dyno next year to find out.

I agree, security is a first priority along with good maintenance I've gone for a blend of old school and new thinking on my security.

I'm running K&N filters. Properly cleaned the ones the previous owner left in and really looked into this MAF sensor stuff. K&N give a million mile warranty for a reason so I registered them and just for peace of mind, I'm gonna run them a couple of hundred miles, open up and check for any oil/residue in the intake. But they sound ace. The throttle response is better and it just sounds sharper.

I'm going to go for the MTM exhaust in the spring. Akrapovic has actually come down a bit. Seen it at £4,200 recently somewhere but end of the day, it's just too expensive mate. If you've got the money, have at it. It's built very well and light. But I think MTM is a brilliant sound/build. The Milly is the best value for sure though. Hands down.

Wheels. Been looking a lot lately.

Leaning towards Ispiri as they're UK based and seem really good value quite a 'stock' look like the TSW Bathurst's but for me, it's about unsprung weight reduction and not going too silly. Because they will get curbed. Fact!

Carbon brakes would be 'nice' but only if they were an absolute steal!!

Might do a stage 1 tune with the carbon clean. Probably get it back to what it was when it left the factory haha. Apart from that, what else is there? It does everything. Has a NA V8.

Ummmm.

Don't suppose this is important is it? Heat shield? Does it protect anything important? Could see much underneath car as were in the hills. I suspect the torn corner has been there from previous owner and the roads were pretty flooded today.

Certainly didn't go through anything at speed but looks like the water has got inside and the pressure has just ripped it away. Unless I picked it up in the water as I went through but I presume the '8K' part of the past number refers to my platform.
