I'm looking to move from my 2017 RS3 to a new RS5. Found a lovely spec car in stock but it doesn't have the sports exhaust. What are people's thoughts on this? Completely avoid as its a must have?

I have the sports exhaust. It is worth having but PCW will do a job for you (if you can get him. I was hoping to get him to do mine whilst he’s in Scotland but he can’t fit me in)

I’ve heard an RS5 sports exhaust after Paul had given it the treatment and it sounds great.

I've just done the same move mate - I have a Carbon edition so it came with the sports exhaust though the demo I drove didn't!

In all honesty, I couldn't really tell the difference and both are very disappointing after the RS3. No pops and bangs either but I suppose its about time to start acting my age :)

Haha! Honestly, I'm getting to the stage where I'd rather not have the pops/bangs so I'm not too concerned.

I did however manage to find a stock car with most of the options I wanted including performance exhaust. Only thing I'm not too keen on is that it has a heated steering wheel (no flat bottom)... not sure I'm going to be happy with that but didn't think it was a deal-breaker.

The wheel is no biggie! I dont actually like mine either as its perforated leather with no sign of Alacantara but I can live with it!

Lots of pops and farty noises come from mine. You get pops on the overrun and farts on the gear change.

The demo car I tried had sport exhausts and I loved it. Now I bought one with that option and I love it. It could have been a little bit more aggressive in my opinion but still great

Well I finally managed to collect my new RS5 last week (with sports exhaust). Obviously it's nowhere near as loud as the RS3 but I feel that's likely deliberate by Audi as its targeting a different market. My boy racer days are over! haha.

It's a big step up in refinement/comfort and although the RS3 was a fantastic all rounder, it wasn't a great long distance cruiser due to the exhaust drone, even in comfort. The RS5 by contrast is silky smooth and was a dream to drive at the weekend on a 200 mile journey.

It's deceivingly fast due to the refinement. You just don't realise the speeds you're up to until you look at the clock. For me, it's a better package than the RS3 but they both have their pros and cons. All depends where you're looking for.

any pics mate? LOVE the RS5

Interesting to hear, I was thinking about going for a new RS3 but I love the RS5 the only thing that puts me off is that (to me anyway) it has that big car feeling something that would make me super nervous about driving it about casually especially with those shiny diamond cut alloys!
