Newbie with a few questions

Picked up the car at 5.30 tonight & had an hour drive home to get used to it. First impressions, I’m really impressed with it. Going from a 200bhp car down to a 150 doesn’t feel as bad as I thought, the car is really responsive & mega smooth. Still might go for a remap though. The auto gearbox is 100% better than the Mercedes auto box, you can’t even tell it’s changed gear.
Technology wise, it’s suppose to be fitted with a high technology package but I can’t really see anything special. I would say that the merc’s controls are slightly easier to use but I haven’t really had a play around to get used to everything.. Only thing I’m surprised at is the car not having a usb or a aux, don’t need an aux due to bluetooth streaming but the usb comes in handy for phone charging.
Overall though, after an hour in the car I’m impressed & it is absolutely beautiful exterior wise.

My USB ports are under the armrest, have you looked in there? If you've the high technology pack it'll come with the phone box, thus it'll do wireless charging...

Yeah, that’s where I expected them to be. I have the ami port in the glovebox but that’s not really convenient. According to myAudi it’s suppose to be have Technology Pack-High. Not really sure what that entails. It’s not the end of the world, it was just expected.

You should be able to tell if you've the technology pack high as it will not have a nav sd card in one of the MMI unit's sd slots. I haven't heard of a B9 coming with the old AMI port, just two USB's..

I'm sure I've got usb's under the armrest, as well as another in front of the cupholders. That's without the tech pack high.

Sorry guys, as someone pointed out above my cars a B8.5 not 9. I continued to post in this post as there’s not much action on the B8 forum. Anyway, just had a little play in the car. 100% no usb. The merc I had was fitted with usb & Mmi, lucky for me I had a pack of 3 MMI cables that came with the merc & they fit the Audi Ami system & work

Have emailed VAGTech (Revo dealer), so will let you all know what they say. I am thinking the answer will probably be No
Ended up buying DTUK Tuning box, and the new TCU+ Tune

I went down the same route, haven’t gone with the TCU but I’m thinking about it. Can’t imagine the difference it will of made for the s4/s5 owners because it’s made a huge difference to my 2.0 TDI. It now easily performs better than my previous E250.

Still unsure on the TCU though???

Haven't done the TCU yet, as advised to just use tuning box for 100 miles or so, plus I would like to see/feel the difference between just tuning box and both. The reviews on TCU+ seem to be immense: https://www.diesel-performance.co.uk/tcu-gearbox-flash-tool/ @ABYSS is your man for any questions

I would definitely advise the TCU if you can afford it. Certainly helps the shifts by really sharpening things up and makes it like it should’ve been from the factory.

The only reason I haven’t gone down the TCU route is I wasn’t sure if I would benefit with only having what I would class I low horse powered car. Coming from a Mercedes the gearbox is first class compared to what I was used to. The only thing I would say is when you’ve got your foot down it does want to take you right up in the red zone of your RPM before changing gear.

Don’t worry about the lesser power part, the TCU tune is more about making it generally nicer to drive than outright power.

Agree, see the review on the WhatsApp group, even owners of Toyota Hilux trucks raving about responsiveness of gear change. A4 150ps review below:

Brian in the UK Audi A4 2.0TDI 150PS S-tronic

Ok. 30 seconds to upload. 5 mins idle. 1 mile up
Road and back.
Smoother very low speed shifts in traffic. Quicker pick up in gear. Quicker short changes up and down. Stop start still works. Coasting disengage still works. Will give it a proper run tomorrow. Initial signs, has done exactly what I wanted it do.
