As you’ll no doubt know. My 2009 S4 is new to me and has had this annoying lumpy tick over thing at ideal.

Plugs fine, coils fine and a lot of owners say it’s normal. So I thought I’d just live with it. However, for the hell of it I stuck a can of this 44k in the tank and also did the old foot on the floor ignition throttle reset thing ( not sure if that even works on b8) and have been using it very sporadically over this past week where it’s had lots of time to sit and let the additive do it’s thong.

I’m no mug. But one of those 2 things has completely changed the car. Smooth idle, free revving and so much more alive. Hopefully it might help others but for £15 why not!

44k sorted the lumpy cold start up runs on my Type R. The 2.0 TFSi has already had a can through it as it with it being the B8.5 it has the twin injectors, 1 direct & 1 behind the inlet valve .

Right, off one today.

So it was all going so well. Took the S4 upbthe Road to the shops, it’s down to 1/4 tank of fuel with the 44k in it. And as I stopped at a crossroads the revs dropped, it nearly stalled and. Then the revs went up and down a few times. Very odd.

After the shop and the restart, it wasn’t right. Not sure what this means.

Could of dislodged some **** which is now blocking or partially blocking an injector maybe?

Possibly, it’s not done it since. I’m going to give it a nice warm run up the snake pass tomorrow see if it blasts out the blockages

How did you guys get on?
The idle wobble as I call it is much improved but, definitely not completely fixed.

So. Next step for me is the plugs. Bosh ones going in. And then coil packs. I’m then going to try and flush out the vacuume lines and see if there’s any leaks. Because if after that it’s still not right I’m taking the super charger off and cleaning the intake ports.

I have used Vcds and reset all adaptations. Including gearbox which, by the way makes a massive difference to smoothness Of drive.

I’ll check injectors etc as well. And report back.

The stuff has come m8 but the car is going in to get the chains and tensioners done. I'll give it a try when I get it back

Hate to think how much that costs? My car is on 83k now, I’m not sure when that is going to be an issue... I’m sure at some post it will raise its head.

Been quoted around £2.5k from an Indy specialist. It's going in tomorrow morning. You never know m8 you get another 20k before it happens. Mine was fine up to about 80k. It's on 91k now and it's bad

Mine has the rattle for about 3 seconds on a cold start. Then nothing, but the other day I noticed it after it had been sat for only an hour. Still, never lasts longer than a second or 2. What’s yours like?

I've got half way through my tank of Bg44 and it's already smoothed out the revs on tickover.
Will look into resetting thing's for more improvements.

Only rattles when cold but it lasts anywhere from 10 seconds up to about 1 minute m8

Oh wow. So that’s when to get it done then. At least I know what I’m listening for

righto, update of all updates!!
finally got a misfire logged on VCDS. Cylinder No. 3 I thought that will be the coil pack right? wrong.. had to replace the spark plug and coil pack on 3.
did a test drive and it was much better, but in for a penny, in for £300. So I have now changed all 6 plugs and all 6 coil packs. What a difference!!!!

Not immediately, I had to use VCDS to erase all adaptations and then go for a nice long drive for it to iron itself out but it is smooooooooth :)

There is still a slight rumble wobble at idle so that will be the engine mounts or exhaust mounts or something, it no longer feels like it did its amazing.
