Hi folks,

I'm looking for some genuine advice and opinions on the s5/a5 sportback with a baby/child seat.

Currently I have a cclass coupe and we have our first baby on the way. I'm looking to switch to something more practical.

I have no real hands on knowledge of baby seats so I'm not really sure and don't want to discover I've made the wrong choice when the time comes.

Its between the SQ5 and S5 sportback. I really want the S5 because I don't really like SUV's but I need to know if the S5 will be good with child seat.

I understand the first babyseat is quite big. How is it in the back of the sportback with isofix?

Is it a pain getting in and out because of the low roofline? Will the big baby seats even fit?

The boot is fab, great size and nice big hatchback so I'm not worried there :)

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks :)

No need to worry I have 2 small babies and they fit nice in my S5 sportback

The back space is big enough for everyone, only the tall adults will suffer a bit on a long journey

I can't compare the S5 with the SQ5 they are in different class and have different porpuses as well I do not like the suv's

Best regards

Adam

Thanks that's great to hear :)

I just wanted to make sure the car was fit and ready for the job and dident require a compromise or work around.

The baby is my number one priority :)

Yep, no problem at all with Isofix. Audi do a nice fully adjustable Isofix child seat (with logo) when the baby gets a bit older.

We have two child seats in the back of our S5 Sportback, both Cybex ones, one for our 4 year old (5 in Jan) and one for our baby girl (14 months old). Our baby girls seat has the booster cushion part over the front but both seats are identical other than that, we removed the reclining base from our boys seat too which makes it lower but both fit fine.

Anyway, long winded way of saying they will be fine, also a big recommendation for the Cybex Gold child seats, no good for your new born but when your baby gets to about a year old you can switch them to one of those seats and they can stay in it till 12. We had lots of different seats with our boy but now have 4 of these, two in the wifes SUV and two in my S5 and thats all we will use now.

Only downside to the S5 is that you can't fit a tablet or screen mount to the back of the front seat head rest poles as they don't have them, no option for RSE either which I had in the previous A7. Very minor niggle though, I still love the S5 and it always puts a smile on my face!

I have both. Well an S5 and a previous gen Q5. I feel as there is more room in the S5. No issues when I’ve transported my nephew. Plenty of room with baby/child seats

Yes, shame about the sport seats not being able to fit a tablet and yet to find a solution for that, but otherwise they are sooo comfy!

Yeah, my 4 year old is fine holding his tablet but in the A7 I had the Audi RSE which was neat and a mounted tablet in the Discovery Sport.....

I know some will see this as clunky but I have moved from headrest monitors in my BMW to these. They are surprisingly simply and effective. They work with the Fire for Kids cases too. They are discreet enough to leave in the car but equally easy to remove and put on each time.

On an S5 with super sports seats in the headrest is integrated and part of the seat, they cannot be adjusted or removed.

Rovotop car storage on amazon maybe a solution to the sport seat problem. I

Didn't see any image or link but I believe they go around the headrest, might not be too comfy?

Yes you are correct. I can’t see it being in comfy to be honest my head doesn’t touch the headrest unless I tilt my head back.
