I wasn't really looking to buy a new car as I had just settled into getting a K04 turbo ready for my Tfsi but when this car came up I just had to go for it. I've been lusting after an S4 for a while but there's a lot of cars out there with low specs or just plain looking cars which are hard to tell from the S line models and the prices seem to be climbing so I had resigned myself to never scratching that V8 itch. Then out of the blue an old work colleague rang me to tell me he had just brought an S4 in for a rear bumper paint and that the owner was looking to sell when he got it back and wasn't after a huge amount for it, and btw its sprint blue! I was hooked and a few phone calls later and a seemingly long wait for him to get the car back and the deal was done.

I've had it a couple of days now and havn't stopped smiling, Its the colour I would have picked and also very well specced and with reasonable mileage too. Its no minter but presents well and I'm looking forward to getting stuck into it and bringing it back up to scratch. I'll get some more pics once I get it cleaned up a little.

Oh and that noise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its worth the fuel bill!

That looks amazing. With that said, your A4 with a K04 would likely be faster.

Get an RS4 grille with an S4 badge on matey! Put one on my S4 n it looks so much better!

Thanks for the comments guys, makes me smile like a loon!

This was a factor I had considered and a K04 Tfsi would certainly stretch out the fuel more and provide more options for future power upgrades. I just had to do the V8 thing before they are outlawed or S4 prices climb to silly numbers. You can get a supercharger for them too by the way!

When you planning on showing it off! I'll have to pop around matey

Come and take a look when you're passing buddy, I'll take you out for a spin.

One of the things that needs addressing is the chrome around the windows as its gone typically milky and the chrome on the grille is peeling. I do have an all black RS4 grille in my Tfsi which will be coming out before its sold as its a genuine one but I'm not sure if a full de chrome is the way to go as the chrome ties in with the mirror caps. An option I have thought of is the RS4 grille with the satin surround and see if I can somehow match that finish on the window trims and gutters.

The satin silver surround is the way to go if you have satin silver or ally looking silver brightwork.
I have the rs4 grille with satin silver surround and it looks spot on , really matches well.

great new car their chap...

Am I right in thinking the RS4 grill is always black Rob? just the surround that changes.
I might be able to do something with the one I got from you and a standard chrome surround.

yep, the main grilles are just matt black, just the surround that varies but as the surround is not available as a spare part you have to either track down the whole grille in the finish you want or change the surround colour yourself.
I've had the chrome on my old bus as standard with the s-line grille and hated it, tried gloss black on the s-line and it was a big improvement.
Tried the gloss back on my first rs4 grille and it was great until it started to get a few chips etc then started to look a bit tired.
Went with a new rs4 grille with satin silver surround factory fit and its the best yet, wouldn't go back after this one now, just looks right, but hey it all down to personal choice.

If I could find a set of rings in the same satin silver to replace the chrome rings that would be even better....

Let me know what you do to get rid of the milky chrome window trims as I have the same problem!

And as for the chrome grille surround, i kept mine chrome, felt like it complimented the other chrome parts as you say.

Thats mine with chrome trim on from standard grille. Also had it sprayed gloss black and reg plate filler wrapped gloss black. Bought at OEM S4 grille badge from eBay and used some apoxy resin to stick it on as I cant imagine selling the grille again or owning another B7 after this! Enjoy fella :icon thumright:

The chrome surround suits your colour really well , maybe it the shade of colour , looks nice, but prefer satin silver on black and lighter colour cars.

That satin silver does look great! Matches the mirrors and boot trim! Be great if you could get matching satin window trim!

Or what about this then , B7 S4 with rs4 grille and black surround, just to make your descision a bit harder..lol
still prefer satin silver though ….

Or an rs4 grille ( on an rs4) with satin silver surround fitted to a sprint blue B7 rs4.....forget it's an rs4 but otherwise the same effect.

I think I need satin. Black needs the full de chrome to work for me. I've got a spare door chrome to have a play with to see what I can do with it, Not sure what I'll do with the grill surround yet though.
