Any pics of it done on an S3 ?
They actually made it! Just visited their shop and found this: https://www.triplercomposites.com/product-page/audi-a3-8p-s-line-fl-front-splitter
I'd love if they made side skirts for the S-line body shape to match the splitter, something like DTH A4 B6/B7 side skirts or something like those they make for other cars. The splitter alone, without the side skirts, looks out of place, IMHO.
The first link is to the same splitter that I linked to in the manufacturer's own store. Look at the car on the imageOnly problem is the fact its made of GRP not a fan myself as if it scrapes it splinters, this looks very similar but is ABS so will be a lot more durable and is also cheaper

S3 style skirts are available pretty cheaply from Poland would be really tempted but sadly these are also GRP

One has smoked headlights and black rings the other has normal headlights and chrome rings. The first link is to the same splitter that I linked to in the manufacturer's own store. Look at the car on the image
As to the S3 side skirts, no matter are they genuine or aftermarked, I don't like them with the S-line bumpers. They look good with the full S3 body kit only. All or nothing!
I would think they would make a mould from an orignal then fill mould with the ABS plastic , seems a bit similar to a way the guy on ebay does the Carbon mirrors and carbon doortrimsInteresting, what is a step-by-step process of designing side skirts. How do they come up with a shape they make. Do they use software or sculpt body parts of clay?
Depending on the resources they got. Probably clay and sculpting but bigger companies use 3d scanning to reverse engineer parts and 3d print or cnc them for prototypes and moulds.Interesting, what is a step-by-step process of designing side skirts. That's when you have the original. But how do they make custom designs? Speaking of the guy who makes the mirrors and door trims, he makes small parts. But imagine if you needed to inject amount melted of plastic worth a side skirt. It would cool before it reached the remote corners.I would think they would make a mould from an orignal then fill mould with the ABS plastic , seems a bit similar to a way the guy on ebay does the Carbon mirrors and carbon doortrims
I'm trying to make something but as I'm a terrible sculptor, I decided to make it off cardboard gluing one layer on another. I hope it works out.Depending on the resources they got. I would thought to make a custom design they would still need the orginal even if it was only for sizes or they wouldn't fit correctly . The plastic would stay hot long enough to make the mould just look at bumpers big n wideThat's when you have the original. But how do they make custom designs? I thought big and wide items require injection under pressure.I would thought to make a custom design they would still need the orginal even if it was only for sizes or they wouldn't fit correctly . The plastic would stay hot long enough to make the mould just look at bumpers big n wide
You would be right there ,mind the speed that liguid plastic could be pumped at would fill large item before it got cold .I thought big and wide items require injection under pressure.
Thanks!Good luck!
It's time consuming but you'll be proud when you'll be done!
I remeber when i did prototyping/reverse engineering of mk7 r airbox (in cad) some things were driving me nuts for days but in the end i was happy with the result. Shame it never went into production...
Working with wrong people...Thanks!
Why your airbox never went into production?
I feel your pain. Been there myself. The worst decision we make is when we start trusting wrong people.Working with wrong people...
Dead in the water for a long time now. It's a pity seeing as there was so much interest.So... still no rear diffusers for an S3 8P huh?
Haha
Sucks though, as I just read this entire thread from the start, many of you spent a lot of time on this... and the interest surely was/is there.
Anyhoo... Could anyone suggest some companies for a front diffuser? Nothing too pricey, but I’d rather deal with “established” businesses (Xenonz, Maxton, etc) over eBay, AliEx, etc...
