Having had a very similar experience myself, I wish you the very best of luck in sorting this out mate. Sounds like you're in good hands now.

Engine oil starvation issue caused top and bottom end damage and resulted in a new engine, and the expense that goes with that.

From your pics, looks like you'll be sourcing a new gearbox.

anyone care to comment as to whats gone on lol

My guess is that one of the planet gears failed and seized the box. The inertia twisted the drive shaft and that then snapped more bits, and launched pieces into the casing, hence the hole in it... I'm not an expert, so feel free to ignore me.

That does look like a fair explanation.
When my transfer box failed a bearing broke free and bounced around inside until it finally found a snug location between the gear mesh, stopping the car dead. Thankfully it only mashed the transfer box and nothing else, but looking at that drive shaft in the photo I can see that I got off very lightly.
I had no idea a drive shaft could bend like that!

thanks for the replies, does look like a complete and utter mess, a gearbox/gearbox housing will be coming from poland as milta didn't have what ever was required to fix this mess...

so i have had another response from tvs who have advised the following i am still awaiting for a quote on a gear box itself the below will of course be additional to the cost:

The price for ECU stage 2+ and TCU (<500Nm) software tune is: € 699,- Ex/Vat.

The price for install is what i have quoted you before: € 350 - 450,- Ex/Vat.

dont forget the car would also have to be tailored to their HQ, I will be keeping this updated for those who may encounter such issues/last resort for myself.

Could they not program the transmission over there then ship the transmission to you.

Then get tvs uk to install it?
(I believe tvs has a location in the UK)

Just a thought .... I'm sure you've discussed options with them.

Best of luck.

Sounds like a good idea,

Well I have given milta a call last week Friday. Was advised they are waiting for some bits to arrive, and will be sorted this week... fingers crossed as they say

thought i will provide another update, had a call earlier in the week to confirm the drive shaft, told the parts would be arriving on Wednesday, so hopefully there are no more setbacks...should be sorted next week

Sorry for the delayed reply, i have been on holiday for the last few weeks, so before i went i picked up the s3, i have only driven it back (around 3-4 hours) no issues to report with the gearbox, i haven't been able to test it out fully as of yet however, its looking good.

I will update this thread as time goes by.

So far its a big thumbs up for milta, if you have any gearbox issues especially DSG, than you would be in good hands here :)

hopefully this thread will help anyone with similar issues.

regards H
