I picked mine up yesterday and the first thing I thought was “it’s sitting too high”

I might look into some eibach lowering springs

Ummm, I don’t know the quotes drop to be honest. I want to say 20mm? And it’s the lesser drop of the two options but I think it looks good and doesn’t scrape on speed bumps and stuff so is perfect for using it as a daily.

That is the drop I want.

Mine's a normal a4 black edt so has sports springs.

Just confused which kit to go for pro kit or sportline

I don't want totally slammed. More like yours

But sports are already 20mm lower so i'd be gaining 10mm.. my gap looks alot more than 10mm to get it close to yours

I’m really not sure how they decide on how much drop they give with all the different Audi options to be honest. Mine is the Pro Kit and is the higher rise height of the two options. I think I was actually supplied a saloon kit instead of avant though, so might be sitting a little lower at the back than it would be with the avant kit. Haha

...another Aberdeen S4 Avant! Nice progress and car looks great. Spacers made a big difference

Yeah, they definitely make it sit just that bit more aggressively.

@SPIKE_S1, here’s a photos of it sitting on the new springs, as requested! Covered in dust and bugs but still looking alright somehow. Haha. It’s much better than the last set, turns in far better.

So I had the wheels, callipers, glass and exhaust tips ceramic coated yesterday and while the wheels were off had some spacers popped on. Went for 12mm based on some various reviews and people's opinions. Here's the before and then after photos:

And after...

I think it looks good but would be a bit better with slightly lowered suspension I think!

Hi Mate, which spacers did you use?

Hi Mate, which spacers did you use?

I actually ended up with two different brands after buying them off people selling from B8 S4's. I think that one pair is Eibach and the other H&R? They're 12mm all round though and I've had no issues with scrubbing or anything, even when lowered and with a full car. :)

That's great, answers my second question which was: B8 spacers are in fact the same as b9, cheers.

Yeah I took a bit of a punt because the PCD and bore were the same between the models so I couldn't see why they wouldn't fit. Means that there's potentially used versions kicking about as well which can be helpful if you're not worried about them not being shiny new. :)

Hi Dan,

Little bit random but I don’t suppose you have your standard exhaust easily accessible. Reason I ask is I’m trying to find out the internal diameter of it. TIA

It’s in my shed so I can take a look! Don’t have any proper measuring kit so a tape measure measurement will have to do. I’ll measure where the resonator sections meet the rear portion of the exhaust and let you know.

S4 but would be interesting to know RS4 wonder how much of a difference there is, if any.

Good thing you posted or I’d have forgotten to measure them! The internal diameter is 56/57mm as best I could measure with a tape measure. 57mm would make sense as that’s basically 2.25”. Hope that helps!

Looking good but reckon you should have bought an RS4!

Didn’t fancy paying £80k for the spec I wanted... And they weren’t released by the time I needed to have a new car.

Maybe compromise on spec and get a second hand one at the end of the term for my S4.

I bought mine outright with 10% discount. S4 seemed really underwhelming after 2 years in an RS3 and A4 . Not sure how you get to £80k (88 list ) for a decent spec. What would you want??

Pretty much everything!

Wish I could do that as well but I’m not flush with cash...

That would have been £72 with discount!

Some options are ridiculous. Non noisy sport exhaust for £2k. Dynamic suspension not a chance. Mine has roof, 20in tit wheels, black pack comfort and sound and a few minor bits. Managed 0-60 in 3.4 —- awesome. Once you have had an RS there’s no looking back.. although daily driver S3 with more moderate fuel demands is ok.

Love the looks of the rs4 with the black styling pack but they don't sound as good as an S4. They are loud with the sports exhaust but not particularly a nice loud. Manhart seem to be able to make it sound good but not sure you can buy there exhaust separately.

Or PCWMods for exhaust tweaks

Is the rs4/rs5 worth 20k more than an s4/s5? Thoughts?
Head vs heart imho. Head says no heart says yes.

Good answer. Spend 2k on an s4/s5 and it can be at 415bhp and sounding incredible. Doesn't quite have the looks though!

Said it before, I was at a meet parked next to a B9 S5 and it already sounded better standard. Gutted to say the least!

It's good you can be honest about it mate. I have a full Milltek non res on my s5 sounds peachy. I'd still have an RS4 mind money no object!

RS4 is a beautiful car but I don’t think it’s worth the extra 20k tbh I like the S4 being discreet and a bit of a sleeper

I think we’re all on the same page for this one then. We’d all love an RS4 with a nice aftermarket exhaust on it if money wasn’t an issue, but not sure if it’s worth the extra £20k over an S4 if we’re using our heads. Haha. Think that about sums it up?

I do think they look mean. Definitely have a lot more road presence!

I’ve had several S and RS Audis (current S3 and RS4). Without doubt the RS is well worth the extra cash and you get most of it back on resale. 2 years in an RS3 cost 5k depreciation previous S3 was the same. I had an S5 for 3 days in summer 2017 and was rather underwhelmed with performance which prompted the RS4 order. Quite frankly the RS gives twice the smiles per gallon.

The rs4 looks low, wide and mean. I would love to have one, but I don’t want an estate yet. Is there going to be an RS4 saloon? I love my s4 but definitely needs some more poke, I have made it look a little more aggressive but waiting on the tuning companies to pull there fingers out to unleash the potential the s4 has to offer.

I've not heard anything about a saloon and since they didn't do one on the B8.5 I can't see them doing it for the B9...
